When it comes to makeup, hair and fragrance I have two moods: ‘Full on drag queen’ and ‘Let’s just make sure I don’t seem homeless’ I joke, but I definitely have days where I want to seem presentable but keep it a little more toned down.

On those days I tend to wear less perfume, but the problem is after an hour I feel like you cant even smell it anymore. That’s just a waste of perfume, which is not acceptable. I mean I already spent way too much money on it, I can’t waste it too!

As you may have read in a previous post of mine, spraying it in your hair definitely helps make perfume last but it’s also fairly noticeable and bold and something I would most likely do on a more glamorous day, so here is a little trick I use to make my perfume last in a more subtle way.

I like to take the amount of lotion that I would normally use on my arms and shoulders and add in a few drops of perfume oil. I usually put 4-5 drops of oil in for a subtle effect.

Keep in mind if your lotion has a scent they will blend together a bit, so if you want the fragrance to stay true to what it is on its own you might want to choose a lotion that has no smell.

In this case I used my Dream Cream, because it has saved my skin this winter. It has a sort of herbal, lavender scent to it naturally but I think it blends beautifully with my Nirvana Black perfume oil and the lotion scent fades fairly quickly leaving just the scent of the perfume oil behind.

The reason I use oil is because it makes it blend into your lotion more easily and won’t mess with the formula of it as much as say, spraying an alcohol based perfume into your lotion and then rubbing it in. That may work in some cases as well, but oil is definitely preferable.

Another benefit of using perfume oil (in general) is that it’s usually more affordable than a full size perfume, so you can more easily experiment with scents and such.

I like to think of this as sort of the adult, more classy version of using scented body lotion. Remember when everyone was slathered in cucumber melon from like 1997-2000? It’s like that but 100% less atrocious.
