Today’s quick tip is brought to you by something i discovered while painting my face to look like a skull. After trying fo 14 hours and 29 minutes to get the eyeshadow that I used to shade the temples of the skull out of my hairline (only a mild exaggeration) I finally gave up…and then I noticed it. My hair looked bomb. It looked so full, and even and just GOOD. The darkness looming under my hairline was not to be scrubbed away, this was to be embraced with love and appreciation.

I’ve never been a big fan of my hairline. I have a prominent widows peak which really only bothers me because it makes it next to impossible to have a center part, but the widows peak also dips back really far above each temple and only little fuzzy baby hairs grow there. I knew filling in your hairline was a thing and I had seen people like Amrezy do it on snapchat but for some reason it sounded tedious and I didn’t think it could possibly be that effective.

I. Was. Wrong.

It’s literally 14 extra seconds of your time. You just grab a a larger eyeshadow brush, some matte shadows that mimic your hair color at the root and pounce that shit on where you have less hair in your hairline. You could even go nuts and make the whole thing perfectly even if you wanted to but when I tried that it reminded me of the early 200s when guys would get their hairline shaved into different shapes and stuff, it was just a little too perfect.

The key to making it look natural is to stick to filling it in where you have some thinner hair or even some short baby hairs. If you just bring the color onto the bare skin of your forehead it will not look very natural.

Let me show you what I do with mine…

Honestly I dip the brush in those two colors, bounce it on that spot for 4 seconds and it makes a world of difference. Filling in your hairline is a game changer in the most subtle way ever.

If you have lighter hair then you’ll obviously want to choose lighter browns, but my hair is nearly black so these two colors get the job done. If you have a matte neutral palette that you love just play around with the colors and mix some together until you nail it, if you get it wrong you can always blend it away and try again later.

So if you’re like me and you’ve suffered with disliking a small portion of your head but never thought of filling in your hairline with eyeshadow PLEASE give it a try. It makes me feel so much better with a side part and it literally takes no time at all. I’m kicking myself for not trying it sooner.
