You guys, holiday sales are the devil’s work. Want to hear a story? I had early access to the Sephora friends and family sale because I’m a VIB Rouge member (surprise surprise) but the site was down when the sale started. I obviously could have lived my life just fine without getting stuff at that sale, but in my mind I was like I HAVE TO GET THIS TO WORK BEFORE STUFF SELLS OUT! I eventually refreshed it enough times and it did work, but goddamn those sales take over your soul. Evil I tell’s ya!
One of the things I purchased at that evil sale was the Elizabeth and James Nirvana Black Gift Set. I was eyeballing that perfume for a really long time, and the value on the gift set was STUPID good compared to the regular price, and the sale was an extra 20% off on top of that so I figured the time had come.
There she is in all of her glory. Now that I have it in my possession, it has kind of reignited my love for fragrance. I was in a rut for a while, but I’m back now and I’m ready to hand out some helpful tips like chicken samples at the mall food court! My similes need work.
The best way to make your fragrance last the longest and be the most noticeable is:
Spray a little perfume in your hair! Some of you may have heard this tip before, because it’s kind of an old school thing I think. I remember my grandma and my aunts saying it when I was little, but sometimes old tricks stick around for a good reason. Because they work!
It makes a lot of sense if you think about it, your hair provides a lot of surface area for the fragrance to linger in. It also has more air flowing past that surface area, so when your hair moves around it diffuses that fragrance out into the air around you. Like one of those bottles with the sticks in it that people put in their houses, except it grows off your head and makes you feel sexy. How convenient.
Another advantage of putting a little perfume in your hair is that it most likely will smell more true to the fragrance in the bottle because it has less body chemistry to compete with. Conversely though, you should be aware that if you have any heavily fragranced products in your hair it might mix with those, so keep that in mind. I try to avoid heavily fragranced hair products anyway, but sometimes things linger. Beware of lingerers.
One thought that crossed my mind is that alcohol based products like perfume aren’t necessarily the best thing for your hair, but considering that its only one or two sprays and you aren’t directly dousing your hair in it, I don’t think it would cause an issue, even for those with very dry locks.
So next time you’re getting ready to go out, try spraying a little perfume in your hair. Odds are you will find more people than usual asking you about and complimenting you on your fragrance. At the very least you’ll be able to smell it more, which leads to feeling like a sexy badass the whole night, so basically you can’t lose. 😉
