Do you you ever want to wear eyeliner without a wing, on your top lash line only, but you feel like it looks really weird and you don’t know how to end the liner on the outer corner? Me too.
As you draw the line toward the outer corner of the eye you generally start to make it thicker to lift the eye and thicken the lashes and stuff. I mean that’s sorta the whole point of eyeliner, right? But then how should the line end? A lot of times it ends up looking a bit like this…
The thickened end ends up looking a bit blunt and shortens the shape of the eye. It doesn’t look terrible but it’s not doing your eyes any favors as far as flattering them. To make it a wee bit more flattering for the old ojos you can do it two other ways (probably more but these are the two I use) and which way you choose will probably depend on your eye shape and what you find more flattering on your face. We’re all unique little snowflakes after all.
For a simple and very natural look you can just taper the end of the line off slightly so that it softly blends into the end of the lash line. You still add the thickness to the outer portion for the flattering effects that brings, but then right before the lash line ends you start tapering it back down so that it does all of those nice things without cutting off abruptly and shortening the shape of the eye.
If you find that your eye shape needs more lift, or you end up feeling like it’s a bit droopy and sad looking then I gotchu too, boo! Instead of tapering the line back down to the lash line, do a tiny, itty bitty baby flick at the end like in the drawing above. It’s like doing a micro-wing in a way, but once your mascara is on you won’t really see a wing at all. It will just add lift to the corner of the eye, blend into your lashes and draw everything upward for a nice perky awake look.
So if you struggle with how to wear eyeliner without a wing, give one of these two subtle shapes a try. It’s great for natural looks and super casual days and all that jazz or even to just hide the lash band if you’re going for that “I woke up like this…and I just happen to have huge false eyelashes on” type of look 😉
Hope that helps! Do you like to wear wingless eyeliner, or are you winging it out to your temple every day? How do you wear it? I’m so curious!
