“Blah blah blah neutrals are so boring, they aren’t fun, la la luh la.” Shuuuuuuut your face hole, k? Neutral makeup can be awesome. Neutral nails can be glorious!
The Urban Decay Naked Palettes ushered in a new era of love for neutral eyeshadows, and they are definitive proof that
A- Everyone loves eyeshadow palettes
B- There are many different variations and nuances in neutrals, and they can be just as fun as color sometimes.
I think this trend is beginning to spill over into nails and lip colors as well. I’m starting to see a lot of interesting nude-ish nail colors and lipsticks. So I decided I would show you lovely dovelies just a few of the ones I’m digging right now.

First let’s take a look at the neutral nails I’ve been rocking lately, because I have been on a serious kick with those.
I won’t go on and on about this color because I did talk about it at length and include swatches of it in my giveaway post which you can read right HERE. But let’s talk about the color. It’s a nude, its a greige its got a hint of mauveyness to it and the texture is the coolest. If it was a kid this texture would be the girl in your class with the barbie dream house and the power wheels corvette. You remember her? This texture is her in nail polish form.
Butter London Tea With The Queen
This is a warm, true nude color but something about its warmth is just a little more special than most nudes. I actually wore this color as part of my wedding manicure with some gold glitter and crystals as an accent nail. It was pretty sweet if I do say so myself. I wrote a full review on this polish so you can read about that HERE if you want to know more about the formula. I find it really flattering on my pale skin too!
This is a true mauve nude, it’s just dark enough to be a little edgy but it’s still got a very sophisticated effect. It’s a great color to choose if you need something to match multiple outfits and you don’t want to go completely nude . . .on your nails I mean. Not on your body. Unless that’s your thing in which case let it fly, girl! Maybe not in public though cuz… laws.
Now on to the lips. Matte, nude lips are having SUCH a moment and for a while I didn’t really think I was into it. But I think I found my combination. You know that one magic concoction of lip colors that’s just everything you need it to be.

In this photo I’m wearing them both together, which is usually how I like to do it. I also popped a little bit of gold on the highest points for a fun highlight. This has been my go-to lip combo lately, which is huge because I am usually all about dark and/or bright lips.
On their own these colors are also pretty awesome. Naked on it’s own is more subtle and not as matte, but definitely super pretty and wearable. Cashmere on it’s own is more grey toned and edgy, but maybe not quite as wearable if you aren’t really ballsy about your lipstick. Both are fabulous and I want to be their best friend.
So if you are looking to take a dive into the world of neutral makeup, but are determined not to be boring then keep your eye out for all these interesting shades. More of them are coming out all the time these days, so there’s definitely something for everyone.
Let me know in the comments if you have any neutral makeup that you just LOVE right now!
