Back when I wrote the first installation of this series, I had no idea that it would be one of my most read posts of all time. That tells me that this is an issue that a lot of you guys are having. Therefore it’s time to add a few tips to the mix. If you haven’t read the original post then go do that right now. HERE is a link…I’ll wait.

You all done? excellent! Now I have three new tips that will help stop you from looking like this…

Unless you are going for a very 90s grunge sort of look, then do you mama, I support your ass.

1. DO SOME LIGHT BAKING UNDER THE EYE // I’m not huge on “baking” the way you see it a lot of time on the internet and social media, with the heavy layer of powder left o for a long time. BUT some light baking on the other hand can be super beneficial. Packing a little extra powder under eye area for just a minute or two can make a huge difference in how well your eye makeup stands up to running. Letting the powder bake a little gives it a moment to soak up any excess oil in the area and makes the makeup less likely to break up as oil develops throughout the day or the evening. It also creates a texture barrier, basically a teeny tiny wall of product that will help keep your liner or shadow from running if your eyes get a little watery. For a light under eye “bake” I like to use my go-to setting powder on a small face brush and pat it on right up to the lash line. I leave it for 2-3 minutes and then brush it away with the same brush.
2. CHOOSE AN UNDER-EYE CONCEALER THAT SETS // Choosing an under eye concealer that dries down and sets is KEY if you have an issue with your eye makeup running. Some creamy concealers that don’t set like It Cosmetics Bye Bye Under Eye and Benefit Erase Paste are great for super dry people who don’t have any issues with their makeup moving around throughout the day, but if thats not you (which I assume it’s not if you’re reading this) then avoid them. Personally my favorite is the Urban Decay Naked Skin Concealer. It dries down, covers well and is generally just the perfect formula for under the eyes.
3. DON’T FORGET TO SET YOUR INNER CORNER // One of the first areas to get mushy, and you know mushy is the perfect word for this, is the inner corner of the eye. Riiiiight by your tear duct area. The mushiest. The trick is to set the area. If you are wearing a look that has eyeshadow there then whatever powder shadow you are using on that spot will set it and do just fine, you don’t have to worry. If you brought your liner into the inner corner then try setting it by patting on a powder eyeshadow that’s the same color as your liner The powder over cream will set it down much better and keep it from gunking up so fast. If you left the inner corner naked, but have liner on the top lid that might migrate south, then make sure that you bring you light bake that we talked about earlier right up into the inner corner area. Basically you want to use some sort of powder to create a texture barrier into the inner corner as well as under the eye.

Like I mentioned in my first post, some people’s makeup will still run a little faster than others. Body chemistry, skin type and watery eyes can all lead to some runny eye makeup issues. But with a few of these tricks up your sleeve you can definitely ward it off quite a bit longer.
