I’ve definitely mentioned this before but I just bought a new full size of this powder and I feel like it’s time to give a full post to sing it’s praises.
I try a lot of different products, so if I wind up using the same one for like several years in a row…you know dat shiii is good. I got a travel size of Tarte Smooth Operator Powder in a holiday set in 2012 and I have literally never gone back. 2012! I’ve gone through whole new wardrobes, several personal epiphanies and like two different apartments since then, and still using the same powder to set my face.
And let me be clear, I was literally using the SAME ONE. The same tiny travel size lasted all that time. In the interim I wound up getting another small travel size in another set, but I decided to keep that for my travel makeup bag and get a full size one for every day. I mean at this rate it should last me until I’m like 95 or something, right?
“Finely milled” is up there in the running with “highly pigmented” for the most overused terms in the beauty industry…but damn if this isn’t finely milled. It’s so fine that it almost looks like corn starch, but the texture is very different. The powder itself is translucent and I use this on a damp sponge to set my concealer daily.
I never feel like it makes me look cakey, my concealer almost never creases (no matter which kind I use) and I don’t have any issues with white cast or flashback. As a matter of fact I used this on my wedding day and it looked fantastic under flash photography.
I know this post sounds like a friggin love song for this powder but it really is a holy grail favorite. No matter how many setting powders I try I just keep coming back to it.
I’ve also used this on shoots to take down shine, not only on women but on men and it even worked on very oily skin, and looked natural the whole time. So if you’re still searching for the best setting powder for you, give this one a try. I know skin is a very fickle thing and people have different needs and preferences but I seriously swear by this stuff! 🙂
