Helllooooo sweet babies! It’s FridayFaces time. We have a few things to address. First and foremost I wore black lipstick in one of my Instagram photos that I’m going to feature here in just a moment, and I got some questions from my real life friends as well as my internet friends about how to pull off black lipstick. There are two keys to it.

1. Pair it with warm colors on your cheeks and eyes. This isn’t a rule but I just find that it makes it feel more wearable.
2. Stop giving a shit what other people think. Seriously that’s the key to pulling any color off. If you’re confident you’re gonna look legit and ain’t nobody gonna say you aren’t pulling it off. That’s just the truth in a nutshell.

Next order of business: Videos.

Ok so real talk time, when I first started blogging I made a video every single week (this was a really really long time ago) and at the time I was doing freelance makeup, I was posting on the blog three times a week and also doing a video every week and quite frankly I had no idea what I was doing making the videos so it was a really tedious process. The amount of time it took, combined with my unpredictable schedule and the fact that I wasn’t as secure in my own skin back then made it really really hard to commit to staring at my own face for that many extra hours and I stopped…and to be honest was a little discouraged.

Since then I’ve dabbled in making videos here and there but I haven’t committed to a schedule or done it regularly…and I think it’s time for that to change. I’m good at being myself through writing but I think connecting with you guys in a deeper way by talking to you in a video regularly is something I need to do.

So what I’m thinking is, every time I post a FridayFaces (which is every other Friday) I will include a tutorial. Maybe of one of the featured looks if you guys really seemed to love something in particular, maybe of something new if I’m feeling sassy. And on the non-FridayFaces weeks I will try to post at least one chatty video where I discuss a product or a tip or favorites or just to sit and chat to tell you something interesting. I think it’s time for me to commit to that level of connection. I’m also much more familiar with editing and more comfortable staring at my own face and listening to my own voice now so I think it should be good.

That being said, the video may at times be in place of another “regular” blog post because I can’t guarantee that I’ll have the time or the content ideas to do both. But we will see where the wind takes us. I hope you guys are into the idea because I’m excited about it.

[show_shopthepost_widget id=”1624423″] This next look I really wanted to make into something that gave a wet, almost greasy look to the smokey eye without actually using an eye gloss. The reason for that being that as amazing as a glossy eye look can be, it does tend to crease rather quickly. I have an idea in my crazy little brain about something that might work for an ACTUAL glossy eye that won’t crease as much but I haven’t tested it yet. I’ll let you guys know if it works

For the time being if you want to create a “wet” look with powders a pop of metallic on the center of the lid is a good start, but to really continue that look, drag that metallic shade just a tiny bit up into the crease. That really helps mimic the shine of real wetness.
