You want to hear something crazy? Pastels can be edgy. Here’s the trick, pick muted ones …and don’t pair them with florals or a straw hat. That just looks like you’re going to easter dinner. Oh, and floral can look edgy too if it’s done with darker colors. Funny how that works, huh? It’s all about balance I guess.

I’m generally not a pastel person, but muted pastel nails are one of my favorites. A simple geometric or negative space nail art design, paired with a low-key pastel can be awesome. Like this look from last year that was one of my favorites:

I actually used one of the colors that I picked for today’s post in that look! See? I’m consistent AF.

• UO Little Boy Blue - Muted pastel gray-blue. The UO nail polish collection is surprisingly really good. The formulas is nice and the color choices are ridiculous.
• Sephora Formula X “Thrilling” - This color is grey, beige pink or any number of other colors depending on what the lighting is like. They describe it on the site as “cloud gray” which is appropriately vague for such a chameleon of a color. Descriptions aside, its a very interesting neutral-ish pastel.
• Essie “Find Me An Oasis” - This is one of those pale blues that is so pale that it’s almost white, which makes it more interesting at lest in my opinion. I don’t know about you guys but when I was in 7th and 8th grade everyone was batsh*t insane over baby blue to the point where it made me hate it for years and years, but this one is light enough that it’s different and doesn’t remind me of those days ::Shudder::
• Sinful Colors “Easy Going” - This is the one I used in the nail art I linked above. It’s pale pink in a way that gives me a very mod feeling instead of a girly feeling.
• Essie “Petal Pushers” - In these photos this color is coming across as darker than any real pastel, but in person it has more of a white base in it, which gives it a slightly pastel, storm gray look. Like a spring rain! Damn, I’m poetic 😉
