It’s time for Friday Faces, but because I only have two makeup looks to show you this week I am going to supplement this post with a video that brought me a lot of joy. If you are a lot younger than me you might not get why this is basically the greatest thing ever, but those of you who are children of the 90s like old QuinnFace here will really appreciate this.
You’re welcome.
Full disclosure, I walked around bopping people on the head and saying “Not the mama” for a solid year because of that show. My parent’s deserve a medal for not “accidentally” leaving me at the mall.
I mentioned in my recent berry lipsticks post that I have a hard time figuring out what to wear when the season are transitioning so I decided to document an example of the getting dressed process…
This is literally every day. Do any of you go through this when it starts to get warmer? God when it gets too warm for a scarf I’m so screwed! But at least I had a little bit of fun with my makeup that day.
Laura Mercier Silk Cream Foundation | Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer | Anastasia Dip Brow Pomade | Anastasia Tinted Brow Gel | Anastasia Contour Kit | Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector Opal | Anastasia Cream Contour Kit | Stila Stay All Day Liquid Eyeliner Amber | Urban Decay 24/7 Pencil Corrupt | Bite Beauty Matte Lip Pencil Aubergine | Tarte Amazonian Clay Blush Exposed | Diorshow Waterproof Mascara |
I’ve been playing around with the Anastasia cream contour kit for a while and I decided that I wanted to try it as a cream eyeshadow. The contour colors in that kit are pretty warm (although surprisingly they work really well for a natural contoured look) so I thought they might be nice as a warm wash of color on the eyes. Once I applied it I set it with translucent powder and it stayed on all day without creasing, which is pretty cool. I decided to really lean in to the whole warm look by using the Stila Liquid Eyeliner in Amber along the lash line. That could have gone terribly wrong but it looked very simple and natural from far away and it was still interesting and different, so it all worked out in the end and I didn’t look like a crazy. I even went with a deep lip color with it. Takin’ risks over here.
The eye color also matched my scarf. Which is nice because I feel like if you coordinate your colors you can trick people into thinking you have your life together. Like “Oh look at her! She is so together, she definitely isn’t freaking out because she can’t find her tax transcripts from 2012, nope not one bit!” See? I bring you makeup and a side dish of life tips. You’re welcome again 😉
Laura Mercier Silk Cream Foundation | Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer | Anastasia Dip Brow Pomade | Anastasia Tinted Brow Gel | Anastasia Contour Kit | Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector Opal | Tarte Amazonian Clay Blush Exposed | Diorshow Waterproof Mascara | L’oreal Infallible Eyeshadow Amber Rush | Dior Mono Shadow Lune | Urban Decay Naked Basics Palette | NYX Wonder Pencil | Stila Liquid Lipstick Beso |
You guys already saw this look from afar in my post about cutting your hair, but I purposely chose a photo that was blown out with light so you couldn’t see the details because I’m shmaaaaart. Mwahaha!
When I first bought the Dior Mono Shadow in Lune which is the color on the center of the lid and the inner corner, I was a little disappointed because it didn’t seem to be anything special and those things are stupid expensive. Then I read that you can use them wet so I put a little fix plus on my brush first and gooooood googly moogly, now I get it. If you have any of the Dior mono shadows I highly recommend trying them wet. They are so reflective and they go on really smooth, and this lasted all day without any creasing.
I’ve been into light eyes and bright lips lately, can you tell? It seems nice and fresh, but it still looks “done” if you know what I mean. Every time I say “If you know what I mean” it sounds in my mind like I’m hinting at some sort of sexual joke. Most of the time I probably am, but not this time. This time it’s just regular old unsexual eyeshadow.
That’s all I’ve got as far as makeup looks for today. Enjoy your weekend, and remember when you feel like a mess just fake the funk by matching your outfit to your eyeshadow. Works every time.
