Sometime last week a friend of mine tagged me in an Instagram post that said Lime Crime Pink Velvet Velvetines were back in stock. Her actual words were “@msquinnface buy this or I will kill you” so valuing my life as I do, I ordered it. . .hahaha to be fair I did tell her I wanted it a million times because it looks so amazing in all the photos so she was doing me a favor really. Two days later, it was in my mailbox, which is awesome because I’m a terribly impatient person.
To my delight, it was as bright and insanely pink in person as it is in pictures. Generally speaking, i’m not really someone who wears a ton of pink, I’m just not really into the girly-girl look. But this pink is so bright and fun that it definitely has some edge to it, you know what I mean? It’s pink but still cool.
As far as formula is concerned, it’s very thin in consistency, but packed full of pigmentation. The best way I can describe it is as if OCC Lip Tars and Stila Stay All Day Liquid Lipstick had a beautiful bright pink baby. Both of those are great formulas, so you kinda can’t lose.
It comes in a tube with a doe foot applicator, which makes for easy application and touchups, although I personally prefer to line the edges of my lips using a brush with it for the initial application, just to get as crisp and edge as possible.
As far as the wear time I think the photos speak for themselves:
After A Salad
After a big old bowl of chicken soup
Seven hours, a bunch of coffees, one salad and one soup later and it still looks acceptable! The oils and liquid in the soup made it more shiny, and definitely moved it around a bit, but it left a bright pink stain behind so it still looked good even where it wore off. Seven solid hours of wear with food and drink involved is #winning in my book.
I’m already planning to buy Wicked for the fall. . .is it weird if I order it now? Shh don’t answer that.
UPDATE: I have an ongoing dupe list for velvetines going HERE for those of you that no longer wish to purchase from LimeCrime

[…] I’ve reviewed a Lime Crime Velvetine before, and the formula is pretty much identical between the two colors so I won’t delve too deep into that again. If you want a full review of the formula you can ready about it HERE […]
