Oh man the second it officially became fall according to the calendar it also became fall in the temperature around here. Some years it’s as if mother nature didn’t get the memo but it got chilly real quick this time. Which excites me to my core because I love wearing beanies (because it means I don’t have to do my hair as often, to be honest) and I love love love fall liquid lipsticks. I usually start wearing them before they actually feel seasonally appropriate but it’s just not the same. It makes me feel like a goth kid at the beach, ya know what I mean?

Oh man speaking f that I just caught up on the latest season of Portlandia and they literally have an episode about goths at the beach. I remember those days. It’s really hard to pair all black with flip flops man. The struggle is really real.

But I digress. Back to the fall liquid lipsticks. I have picked five of them that I have been absolutely loving, both in color and in formula.

Let’s talk about the formula first to get all that technical stuff out of the way, shall we?

DOSE OF COLORS // Thin but highly pigmented formula, wears all day, smells like chocolate, feels really light on the lips.

CRYPTIC COSMETICS // Also thin formula but extremely pigmented. No scent really, wears well but is extremely matte so it can get a little crumbly if you don’t apply bomb prior to wearing it.

KAT VON D // You guys probably already know my feelings about these. They are the more mousse-like formula of these three, but they are still light on the lips. These nude and mid tone shades are a glorious formula but I have had issues with a few of their darker shades being really patchy in the past.

Now that we have discussed that, let’s move on to the important stuff…look how pretty these shades are!

Before I go any further let’s chat about this last color. When I saw it I thought maybe it was just another red and I didn’t really need it, but it looked like a fun fall color so I got it anyway. Then when it arrived I completely fell in love with it. It’s one of those colors that I put it on and I instantly feel 20x hotter. Apparently it’s not just me either because Tarte Cosmetics reposted a photo of me wearing it on their Instagram and literally every third comment was asking what the lip color was. The reason I’m driving this point home is because it’s limited edition and I feel like it’s a public service to tell you how much you need it. You’re welcome.

I can’t wait to pop all these colors on with my favorite hat and bundle it all up in a cool ass scarf and rock it with a leather jacket and sweaters and oooooo yes girl! I’m excited for fall liquid lipstick, I’m excited for fall in general! I don’t care if that makes me basic, it’s good for layering ok?!
