Sandal weather is fast approaching, and while I am staunchly on team “beauty has no rules” I think we can all agree that nobody want to have crusty feet in the summer. Or ever. As a matter of fact let’s never have anything crusty on our bodies if we can help it. Ok? Ok go team!
Regular pedicures are great, and exfoliating in the shower is a must but even with those efforts, sometimes your feet can dry up a little. Especially if you are wearing sandals or open shoes a lot. They’re exposed to a lot of air and elements. Sh*t happens.
There’s a simple way to keep them nice and moisturized, and it comes from a very old school concept, but this specific combination works best for me so I figured I would share it with you today.
For this super easy, super soft feet DIY you will need just a few simple things.
- Your Favorite Body Cream
- Coconut Oil
- Thin Cotton Socks
The key here is to do this trick before bed so you can let your feet marinate (ew) in the treatment.
All you need to do is apply some of the coconut oil to your feet. I chose to use fractionated coconut oil because it stays liquid at room temperature and I can keep a pump bottle of it in the bathroom, but regular coconut oil works just fine.
Once you have applied the coconut oil, simply slather on a generous amount of your favorite body lotion or body butter over it. Thick is better, but anything you find super hydrating will work. I used lush dream cream because that’s my go-to.
Once both are applied, simply put on your cotton socks over your greased up piggies and go to bed. It’s going to feel a little gross and sticky, but try to pay that no mind. Also…maybe don’t use fancy socks just in case the oil leaves a stain. I’ve never had it happen but I can imagine it might if you use a lot.
Insider Tip: I like to use the thinnest cotton socks I can because I hate wearing socks to bed. Socks are the worst.
And thats all it takes! This soft feet DIY won’t remove calluses or magically trim your cuticles but you will definitely wake up with softer, much more hydrated feet. Give it a try, let me know how it goes. #teamnocrustyfeet
