It Friday Friday, makeup looks on Fridaaaay. Everybody’s lookin’ forward to the weekend makeup. Remember that song, and how it was in your head against your will for six months? You’re welcome.
So the makeup ideas have admittedly been SUPER lacking lately. The reason being, I have been working on this damn house all day erry day. Well not exactly, I’ve been working on internet stuff until the mid afternoon, going to the gym, and then spending the rest of the day working on the house and then making dinner and passing out in a heap of laundry. Sometimes it’s clean, sometimes it’s not, sometimes it’s on the bed, sometimes the floor. Times are tough. I’m only half joking here, but to be clear I’m not complaining. The house is coming along amazingly and we should be ready to move in within the next two weeks and I’m super excited. If you’re into that kind of thing, don’t forget that I’ll be blogging about the whole process over on TheDailyQuinn so you can come along for the ride if you like.
So the result of this cycle has been that most days I look like this:
My Mom Described This Look As “Very Hip Farmer” Thanks Mom <3
With the exception of when I’m actually painting, in which case I like to accessorize a bit more:
Yeah that’s a shower cap mudasuckas! Theres a good reason though, I swear. I thought I was being slick while painting so I tied my hair in a huge top knot like yeah, THAT’LL keep it out of the paint! When I got home I realized that the entire top of said knot was actually covered in paint. I’m STILL picking bits of paint out of my hair and it’s been well over a week. So my husband may laugh and I may look like little miss muffet but I’m not getting paint in my bun again. Not today, Satan.
This past weekend was Memorial Day and we decided to take a couple of days to ourselves, so I did get some makeup photos. Let me tell you, staying in practice is important because Sunday morning I was all hyped up to dive into my Anastasia Artist Palette again and I wound up going a little HAM sammich and looking like a hooker. I also wasn’t happy with my blending and it was a whole mess. Practice really does make perfect. I got to eat brunch and also a huge charcuterie plate with dinner that day though, so whatever.
OK Let’s talk about the days where I did like my makeup!
If you think I’m gonna iron a T shirt, then you are surely mistaken my friend. The wrinkles totes come out on their own anyway.
Smashbox Camera Ready CC Cream | Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer | Anastasia Dip Brow Pomade | Kat Von D Tattoo Brow | Anastasia Brow Gel | Kat Von D Shade & Light Eye Palette | Hourglass Ambient Blush in Diffused Heat | Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed Opal | L’oreal Infallible Shadow “Amber Rush” | Sugarpill Goldilux Pigment | Diorshow Waterproof Mascara | NYX Wonder Pencil in Light | Red Cherry DW Lashes | Anastasia Contour Kit | Too Faced Chocolate Soleil Bronzer |
Jeez I even look tired in my makeup selfies. I’m a mess. Anyways, this look was kinda girly so I paired it with a very un-girly type of outfit and yes I know I’ve been wearing these jeans way too much. Don’t worry I bought two more pairs in different colors to switch it up a little. It’s really hard for my to find jeans for my body (Isn’t it hard for everyone though? Do we maybe ever stop to think maybe it’s not us it’s the jeans? Who is designing jeans that never fit anyone? What is life?) These are the TopShop Moto Jamie Jeans, check them out if you are built like me with very muscly thighs and an average sized waist. They fit nice, they’re comfy and they don’t squash my butt. I did way too many squats to grow this butt, I’ll be damned if I let a pair of jeans squish it into oblivion.
I’ve been really into unlined eyes with a lot of lashes lately. I’m even wearing falsies for once, and if you haven’t noticed from the past FridayFaces posts that’s not usually my steez. I’ve also been really into mixing cooler crease shades with warm lid colors. It’s the little changes that keep it interesting, ya know what I mean?
Also, I don’t mean to brag but I’m really feeling my current eyebrow routine. I might have to film a quick tutorial on it because I’m very happy with how they have been lately.

Here’s a pro tip: When you don’t want to look tired, do a sharp winged liner and leave the bottom lash line clean. It really helps lift things up and make your eyes look more open. Fake it til you make it, baby! To bed that is.
Another thing I have been really into lately is bringing a different or more interesting color through the crease of the eye, like I did in the pervious FridayFaces roundup with the purple from the ABH palette or like this little gold diddy right here. The trick is to lay down a normal crease color for definition and then place the fun color in a more concentrated area through the crease. It’s a nice, subtle option for those of us who have a hard time wearing colors. I’m just a neutral addict, I can’t help it. Wait till you see the painting we’ve been doing in the house. Neutrals, neutrals everywhere!
Hopefully we will be in the house soon and I will be all set up and ready to blog again quickly. Until then I will be trolling through Pinterest for makeup ideas and inspiration, from my nightly laundry pile. Hopefully some of that inspiration will stick 😉
