You may have noticed by now that the entire world is losing it’s damn mind for matte lip colors lately, myself included. I’ve always been really into matte lipsticks so this recent influx of new formulas was definitely really welcome and exciting. But life is about balance and life is also about lip colors so logic can only lead us to believe that we need some balance in our lip colors, right?

Every now and then I do enjoy some bright lip gloss, or a juicy shiny one, but if I’m going to cheat on my matte lipsticks then it better be something special. So here are the three bright/juicy/fun/fancy glosses that I have been reaching for lately. All of them are something a little more special than the norm.

YSL Volupté Tint in Oil Nº2

The YSL Volupté tint in oil is a bit pricey for a gloss, but what else would you expect from YSL? The packaging is very luxurious and sturdy, and the formula smells like candy. It’ve very sheer and thin, but still stays on as well as the average lip gloss and even though the tint is very subtle it definitely leaves a stain on the lips once the gloss itself has worn off. This is a great, juicy, glossy color to keep in your makeup bag if you want something that you can pop out and apply easily, but still feel like a baaaaad bish.

Anastasia Beverly Hills Lip Gloss in Black Cherry

The new Anastasia lip gloss formula is SO GOOD you guys. I honestly didn’t think it was going to be worth as much hype as people were giving it, but the colors looked really awesome so that alone was enough to make me try them. They are so thick without being sticky, I don’t know how they do it. I think it’s made by wizards. It’s like the pigmentation of a lipstick, the finish of a thick gloss and the feel of a conditioning balm…oh and the bright colors like Black Cherry Leave a nice, even stain. There’s no liner in that photo by the way, just the gloss. How? How even?

I like having the option of a dark gloss that’s easy to wear because I feel like it makes it easier to wear a dark color in the spring and summer. The glossy finish makes it less heavy or something.

OCC Lip Tar Stained Gloss in Rhythm Box

First of all, I can never type the word rhythm correctly on the first try, what is wrong with me? Second of all this color is glory in a tiny bottle. It’s fluorescent and flattering all at once, and it reminds me of a juicy raspberry jam in the form of a lip gloss. The Stained Gloss formula is very different from the original Lip Tars, so if you’re new to it and you love lip tar just keep that in mind. It’s totally not the same thing.

The stained gloss formula is sheer, and thicker than the original lip tars, so consequently you need to use more to cover the lip area than you do with the original. That being said the finish is beautiful! It really does give this stained glass glow to the lips. I think this would be amazing with a slight tan and an almost nude eye in the summer, ooooo girl!

From one matte lipstick addict to another, if you are looking for some bright lip gloss that will satisfy your needs and help mix things up a bit, maybe give one of these a try.
