It’s been a rough week, makeup wise. Lots of failed attempts at using new colors. Lots of experimenting with different products that didn’t work out, and lots of spending twenty minutes on my eyeliner, just to go outside and have the wind makemy eyes water. Let me crack an egg of knowledge on you guys, even the most waterproof eyeliner will come off if your eyes water enough.
I’ve spent a lot of time looking in the mirror like this . . .
So as I’ve mentioned, the hubs and I have been in the process of buying a house. For those of you who haven’t done this before, you have to hire an inspector to come and essentially make sure that it’s not a giant deathtrap before you buy it. That’s what we spent our Monday doing this week. I got up a little earlier than I needed to because I knew I had next to nothing worth posting as far as makeup looks and I wanted to have time to maybe actually get something right.
So I applied a mauve lid color, and did a black winged eyeliner with a little graphic white twist and I loved it! I brushed my hair, got dressed and when I went to put on my scarf, a huge fiber came off of it and landed right in my eye. No joke I pulled a 2 inch piece of fuzz out of my eye. So I then had to quickly try to re-do the eyeliner which had mostly been ruined, obviously.
I can’t catch a break with this sh*t lately. But I digress. I took this selfie in the car and I’m pretty sure some girl on the side walk was laughing at me.

Mauve city bitch, mauve mauve city bitch. This look was ok for daytime, but if I were going to switch it up for night time I would probably do a red lip instead of matching it up with more mauve.
I also used a different powder to set my under eye area and (even before I pulled half a scarf out of my eye) I was not happy with how the powder settled. I feel like it looked cakey and gross right from the jump. I’ll be sticking with my tarte powder, thank you very much.
So if you’re wondering what happens during a home inspection, for the most part a dude with a little gadget that sees things in heat vision walks around the house and tells you a lot of things you don’t fully understand, and then tells you which ones you need to fix…for like four hours. Being an adult can suck it.
Why yes that IS a portrait of Bill Murray in my kitchen. Thank you for noticing.
First thing I’m putting in the new house when we move in is a long wall mirror near a window. My bathroom mirror selfies need improvement

Thank gaaaaaawd I went back to using my Tarte translucent powder under my eyes. So much better, holy moses.
I’m going through a phase where I’m obsessed with Charlotte Tillbury …again. Not her makeup line, actually I don’t even own any of her products yet, but her work. Also with just HER as a person because she’s hilarious and badass and I love her approach to makeup. So I think looking at some of her eye looks definitely influenced this eye look.
I paired it with my Anastasia Liquid Lips in Heathers, a beanie to hide the fact that I did nothing except wash my hair and then fall asleep on it, and the longest green sweater in America. To give you guys a little perspective I’m 5’10” and it still comes to my knees. When does a sweater become a dress? Who decides these things? What is life, anyway?

Since I had such a week of fails, I figured I would share one of the things that did work out well, even if it wasn’t on my face. I’m still wearing this manicure right now actually but it needs to come off. It has reached the end of it’s ride here on Earth. I did the ombre-fade-whatever-you-want-to-call-it effect with a makeup sponge and it was SO fast an easy. I may do a quick pictorial on how to do it soon, because it’s the fasted “nail design” pretty much ever.
That’s all I got for you this week. Hopefully in the days to come I’ll have more makeup looks don’t get sabotaged. I can only stop myself from going all “crazy-eyes” so many times. Oh man speaking of that, when does the new season of OITNB come out? Spring has so many good shows coming back, how exciting! But that’s a topic for another day, I’ve rambled enough. Byeeeeee!
