This fall I did a post about matching lips and nails and I used a very dark burgundy color scheme. Well now it’s spring and I still like to look all classy and put together from time to time, for doth I am a lady, but dark burgundy is just not fitting the mood right now.

Luckily a few weeks ago during a little Saturday night wine and nails party with a friend of mine(which btw is an excellent way to spend a Saturday night) she decided to put a matte top coat over a bright red-coral nail polish, and it looked awesome! Even more awesome was the fact that it pretty much matches my favorite bright orange-red lipstick perfectly. Not only in color, but also in finish. Talk about coordinating things, hot damn!

For you classy ladies out there who might want to recreate this super coordinated combo - for the nails I used Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure in “All Fired Up” (which was part of my top spring nail colors post) and topped it with “Big Matte Top Coat”. So it’s an affordable duo but I did notice that the matte top coat doesn’t stay completely matte after a few days. It sorta begins to take on a more satin finish, which still looks nice but I figure it’s worth mentioning in case that sort of thing bothers you.

I think the matte finish really gives an old-hollywood quality to the color that isn’t there when it has a glossy finish. I can’t put my finger on why though.

The lipstick (surprise surprise) is Stila Stay All Day Liquid Lipstick in Tesoro which I mentioned in my recent Top Five Orange Lipsticks Post . I swear I own other lipsticks, but these are just the best so they keep showing up over and over.
