I can barely form a sentence right now because the dog in the next apartment over will seriously not stop barking. Clearly this dog is a sh*t talker because my poor little pup is highly offended and growling back. So if I seem less coherent than usual, it’s because I am. Stop stressing me and Charlie out, neighbor dog!
You know sometimes you want to give off the impression that you are very put together, chic, and sophisticated, but really there is a slim chance of actually pulling that off? It’s not that you aren’t all of these things, but life happens. Schedules are tight, and your look gets put on the back burner. One quick way to make yourself look totally put together with minimal effort is to wear a matching burgundy lip and nails.
The burgundy nails need to already be in place for this to be a quick fix, but it’s a type of color that really works on most people so there’s a good chance you might be wearing one already. SO when it’s time to look like you put a lot of thought into your look, just pop on the matching lip, and people will be like “WHOA, color coordinated? She’s so put together and well thought out, how does she do it? She’s the martha stuart of cosmetics!” It’s a simple tactic, but effective.
The colors that I used in the photo above are “Diva” lipstick by Mac and “Visions of Love” nail polish from the OPI Mariah Carey Holiday Collection. Oh and I mentioned before that I had heard that Wet N’ Wild Cherry Bomb lipstick was a dupe for “Diva” and it totally is . . .but ONLY in color. The formula is not as good as a Mac lipstick. I found it fussy to apply, and the wear time wasn’t great which is annoying with such a dark color. But if you are looking for a budget friendly version, just to try out a really deep burgundy lip then it’s worth a shot.
You can also do this little matchy-matchy trick with pretty much any color you want! Red, pink, orange . . .navy blue. However adventurous you are, you can find a color combo that fits your needs. This just happens to be my favorite at the moment, but in the summer I love doing this with an orange color.
What kind of color do you like to match on your lips and tips?
