Recently I did a video on how to grow out your hair and keep it healthy, so most of you guys are familiar with the fact that I chopped my hair off to shoulder length a while ago and have been in the process of growing it back. It’s doing well and it’s in really good health but I’m not gonna lie to you guys, I’ve been getting a little impatient. I mean I’m always impatient, I get annoyed when people in front of me take too long to order at Chipotle ( come ON you know what they have by now you could have put some though into it before you hit the counter. BURRITOS ARE NOT A GAME PEOPLE) but lately the hair growth thing has been really testing what little patience I have.
So when the lovely ladies at Irresistible Me reached out and asked if I would test and review their extensions I was like HELL YEAH! But to be honest I sorta didn’t expect much because I have other sets of extensions and I find them annoying and uncomfortable and I rarely use them. Comfortable clip in hair extensions sounded like a bit of a myth to me, to be honest. I didn’t think it was even possible
(Full disclosure: Irresistible Me did send me a set of extensions to try but they specifically asked for 100% honesty and I have not been paid to talk about their products. They also didn’t make any promises about them being comfortable or better, those were just my concerns going into the process)
So let’s talk about the experience from start to finish. The first step in the clip-in process is choosing your color. As we all know, color matching yourself to anything on the internet can be a real pain in the ass (recently I ordered a burgundy dress and it showed up to my door and it was barney purple…and sweet baby Jesus don’t even get me started on choosing foundation online) but they have a very comprehensive video on choosing your color which I found really helpful.
After watching the video I was fairly confident that my color was “Natural Black”. Which turned out to be a perfect match for me, but to be fair I think that’s a fairly easy color to match. Dark, but not completely black. Not super complicated.
The exact set I wound up with was Silky Touch #1b 20″ 200 grams which retails for $199
They are human remy hair, which means you can do anything to them that you would to your real hair. Style them, wash them, even dye them if need be (although I recommend having a professional do that because if you screw it up thats money RIGHT down the drain)
The silky touch collection is the more natural look offered by Irresistible Me because the ends taper in thickness the way most peoples natural hair does. Which was good news to me because in the past I have felt like some hair extensions look to thick and chunky on the ends (even with my naturally thick hair) and these sounded like they might blend much more easily
When they arrived they came in a package with one test weft so that you can be sure the color matches before you start wearing them. That way the main set is unopened and if it doesn’t match you can send it back. Standard practice for most hair extensions as far as I have experienced, but worth noting if you are new to the clip in game and are concerned about the color picking process.
Ok honestly, these instantly looked great and felt waaaaaay more comfortable than my past sets of extensions and I think I know why. Most sets of extensions come with several long thin strips with 3-4 clips that all go into the back of your hair. Usually I end up stacking a few of them together because the main concentration of thickness needs to be back there anyway and theres only so much room for clips on my one little skull. But stacking the pieces and clipping them together means excess clips, too much pressure on the clips that actually clip to your hair, and quite honestly it’s just never neat and flat back there whether I stack them or try to clip all the pieces into my hair separately. Which is why this feature is a game changer in my eyes…
Yep, you saw that right, they have one huge piece that goes in the back, built in to the set. When I made that graphic I wrote double but upon close inspection it may even been triple or quadruple. It’s a lot of hair.
And it’s all sewn onto a very sturdy piece of fabric, which translates into a faster, more comfortable experience all around. As a matter of fact there is so much hair on this piece that almost all week I have been wearing it on its own. WHICH. IS. AWESOME. Literally it takes two seconds to clip it in and my hair is a few inches longer, looks totally natural and feels comfortable all damn day. Comfortable clip in hair extensions do exist…who the hell knew!
The full set looks like an incredible glorious mane, but day to day I can totally see myself wearing the one large weft on its own. It’s the closest thing I’ve gotten to feeling like I have my former, natural, waist length hair back. I could honestly tear up a little with joy thinking about it because I have been so frustrated waiting for it to get back to that length. That’s dramatic, don’t judge me. I’m still going to keep growing it out obviously but this set of extensions has realllllly helped the waiting process now.
Here is another quick snapshot I took during the week of me wearing just the single weft on its own.
That’s a lot of freakin’ hair my friend.
So my overall take is that these are AWESOME. Comfortable clip in hair extensions do exist! I also noticed on their site that you can buy the large 4 clip piece on its own too, which is insanely exciting to me. I’m not sure if other extension companies offer this now but this is all completely new to me and I am loving it.
These get a huge thumbs up from me, I finally found the majestic unicorn that is comfortable clip in hair extensions. Your girl is very pleased.
