I’ve spent a lot of time over the years trying to find the best eyeliner for the waterline, and most of the time I stick to the same one. I just usually go for the Urban Decay 24/7 eyeliner pencils because I know they work pretty well, and most things just…well quite frankly they suck on the waterline. So when I noticed that they recently released a version on their 24/7 pencil specifically for the waterline I was like…

But let’s be entirely honest. Most of us are not going to go out and buy a bunch of different eye pencils specifically for the waterline. So I took a moment and thought about the best eyeliner for the waterline that I already own and love and decided to share that with you guys today.

I have three that I absolutely know that I can put in my waterline and have them stay there. Two of them are black (and I like them each for different reasons) and one of them is brown, but to be honest everything I have to say about each of them probably applies to the other colors in the line as well…these just happened to be the ones that I have. Except in the case of the Urban Decay 24/7 pencils but if I started talking about each individual shade that I own of those we would be here for a loooooooong ass time. Days even.

WHAT I LOOK FOR IN AN WATERLINE PENCIL:

I want something to goes on smooth, looks really even and rich and doesn’t find a way to migrate down my face in a few short hours. You would think that would be the bare minimum for waterline liner performance, but honestly it’s pretty damn hard to come by.

So with those criteria in place, here are my three favorites in no particular order:

[show_shopthepost_widget id=”1871235″] ANASTASIA BEVERLY HILLS DARKSIDE WATERPROOF GEL LINER PENCIL // This is the newest addition to my favorites. it’s not the creamiest to apply and I find that I need to run it along the waterline a few times to get it to apply evenly, but once it’s on it’s black as night and it doesn’t budge. I even find that I can put this on my top waterline to define my lashes and it won’t even transfer to the bottom waterline, that’s some crazy staying power right there. As it stands at the moment this is the only color it is available in, but if they released some other basic colors you can bet your sweet bippy that I would be getting those as well.

RIMMEL WATERPROOF KOHL PENCIL IN BROWN // The Rimmel Waterproof Kohl Liners are honestly the closest thing I have ever found to the urban Decay 24/7 Eyeliner Pencils at a drugstore price point and as a matter of fact this is almost an exact color dupe for the shade Corrupt which is pretty much my all time favorite brown for the waterline. They are creamy and pigmented and they stay on super well and the price is right. The only down side is the color range is a lot smaller than most high end brands but hey, if you need a more budget friendly staple color this is the sh*t.

URBAN DECAY 24/7 EYELINER PENCIL IN PERVERSION // As I’ve already mentioned a bunch of times here, this is my overall favorite waterline formula when all things are taken into account. It doesn’t necessarily stay as well as the ABH Darkside pencil but it goes on more smoothly and you can blend it out for a smokey look a little more easily so I think this still wins as my number one favorite.
