Heyyyoooo! By the time you lovelies read this I will be packing my bags for a trip to the Bahamas. Wahooo! So I thought it would be appropriate to talk tropical vacation beauty essentials. When you go on a tropical beachy vacation there are a few things that are bound to happen:
- You’re going to get sweaty
- You’re going to need sunscreen
- You aren’t going to want to make a big fuss over your hair and makeup
- You are still going to want to look cute for pictures in spite of these things.
Yeah, that balance can be a little difficult but it can be done. The last time I went away to Jamaica I did the best I could, I failed a little, killed it in other areas, I made some notes, and now I think I have the winning formula down. That’s why today I’m going to show you my tropical vacation beauty essentials, and explain how each of them will help.

- AUSTRALIAN GOLD SPRAY GEL SUNSCREEN WITH BRONZER SPF30 // I absolutely swear by this sunscreen. It smells good, it’s not sticky, it goes on easily and AND AND it gives you a fake tan. So you’re blocking out most of the actual sun and still walking away bronzed. Now you may think that it’s a little risky and maybe it will be splotchy, but it’s more like a gradual tanner so that doesn’t become much of an issue. It also has a really nice natural golden color. I bring at least two bottles of this with me whenever I go on a beach vacation. It’s the best.
- NUXE HUILE PRODIGIEUSE OR // Once you’re all bronzed and glowing (and hopefully not sunburnt) you will probably put on some type of cute dress or romper and head out to dinner. Drop a bunch of droplets of this shiny bronze infused oil into your regular moisturizer. It will add extra soothing moisture and give your skin a gorgeous bronze sheen that looks great in photos.
- ANASTASIA BEVERLY HILLS DIP BROW POMADE // I don’t know about you but even if I’m headed to the beach I am still going to do my brows. Anastasia DipBrow happens to be my daily brow product anyway, but if you use a pencil or something, switch to this for a beach trip. It stays in place like nothing else. I’ve even gone fully under the water and had every damn brow hair in place. I wouldn’t wipe it and get crazy because everything has it’s limits, but it’s good girl. You’ll be fleeky even in the pool.
- BUMBLE & BUMBLE SURF INFUSION SPRAY // I did a tutorial on how I get five minute beach waves with this stuff, and that is my go-to move for tropical vacations. It doesn’t take long…we’ve all been that chick in the hotel with everyone waiting for her to finish getting ready and that ain’t fun. So a five minute style is perfect. it also isn’t super structured and fussy so if it’s a little humid and it gets frizzy or falls flat then nobody will really notice. The surf infusion spray is key though, it gives just the right balance of grit and shine. You can watch the tutorial HERE.
- TATCHA SILKEN PORE PERFECTING SUNSCREEN // You need some sunscreen specifically for your face, obviously. But most facial sunscreens are thick and heavy and sticky. This Tatcha facial sunscreen is none of those things, as a matter of fact it’s light and smooth and acts more like a pore perfecting primer, which is perfect to go under our next product…
- SMASHBOX CAMERA READY CC CREAM // I don’t usually wear anything on my skin at the beach but if for some reason I feel the need to get it together a little more then I always reach for the smashbox cc cream. It’s light looking on the skin but gives plenty of coverage and stands up well to the heat and humidity. It’s one of those products that looks dewy and sexy when you’re sweaty rather than breaking up and looking patchy.
- LITERALLY ANY LIP BALM WITH SPF // Anything you like with spf will do, just make sure you use something. Sunburned lips are a mother effer.
- BITE AGAVE LIP MASK IN CHAMPAGNE // I like to apply this over my SPF lip balm for a touch of shine. It’s thick, hydrating and shiny, and lasts a long time on your lips. I specifically choose the champagne shade because the subtle shine makes your lips look plump and sculpted without much effort. That with a little DipBrow and some sunglasses and you’ll basically look like you have a full beat on.
Obviously I will be bringing other daily staples, but this is the stuff that is specific to tropical trips. If you want to see how I pack my makeup for for a carry-on bag (TSA friendly) you can check that out here. I did my last tropical beach trip with only a carry-on and it actually worked out pretty well so that post might be really helpful if you are trying to make that work.
