On Friday I posted a list of my favorite sheet masks, because my skin was tragically dry and I needed to order more…well they didn’t come yet and I needed a DIY solution to hold me over. A few weeks ago my friend Ryan tried a DIY mask recipe that he saw in one of those Facebook videos that used goat milk yogurt, rosewater and lemon. He raved about it. Like he wouldn’t shut up it was so annoying (that’s actually not true I’m just trying to see if he reads this)
I couldn’t find the recipe he was talking about, and I already knew I didn’t have any rosewater on hand…and I also realized halfway through making this recipe that I had sheep milk yogurt, rather than goat (honest to god sheep and goats are the same ting in my mind, I’m still such a city slicker at heart wow) so I wound up improvising a bit. I’m glad I did though because after a few adjustments I wound up making a mask that I reallllly love.
And lucky for you guys, because I’m too lazy to go out and find rosewater you get a recipe that you probably have the ingredients for right in your kitchen!
I know some of you are thinking “No, Nicole. Actually you are the only weirdo that keeps sheep milk yogurt in your kitchen” Fair enough but you can totally make this with any type of plain yogurt. However after doing some research it turns out that of the types of yogurt available sheep milk yogurt is actually the most nutrient dense for you skin, even better than goat. I knew I was on to something here.
You should try sheep milk yogurt by the way, it may sound weird but the flavor reminds me a bit of pop tart crust…alright how many ways must I make myself into a weirdo in one post? Stop it.
Here is what you need:
- One Tbs of Plain Sheep Yogurt (or yogurt from whatever animal you like)
- One Tbs Raw Honey (regular is ok too if that’s what you have on hand)
- One Tsp Lemon Juice
Directions:
Simply stir all the ingredients together and and apply them to your face for 20-30 minutes. This mask is runny so try to do it at a time when you can sit mostly still.
The Benefits:
You guys know by now that I don’t like to slap together a mask with any old ingredients just for the hell of it. So here are some of the benefits of each ingredient
Sheep’s Milk Yogurt - Natural source of lactic acid, Alpha Hydroxy Acid and Vitamins A, C & E along with a slew of other vitamins, minerals and micronutrients.
Honey - Natural humectant and antimicrobial
Lemon - Natural exfoliant and source of Vitamin C
Not too shabby for something you whipped up in the kitchen, right?
Honestly this sheep milk mask really couldn’t be easier and it feels so soothing and good on the skin. I definitely recommend trying it. Let me know if you do and what you think!
