Ahhh the age old question of how to fake tan your hands without looking like a hot mess. I guess thats not an age old question at all, it’s probably got a few years under it’s belt at best, but you know what I mean.
I’ll be honest with you guys, I struggled with this one until very recently. I either barely tanned my hands at all or I applied my regular tanner and it looked Crazypants McPatchyspots. It just never came out right. It always ended up leaving an outline around my fingers with the middle ‘between the finger” area being ghastly white, it looked too dark compared to the rest of my body and the wrist area just looked all sorts of wrong.
In my frustration I started trying something new, and I’m glad to report to you guys that it works! It works awesome and it’s such a simple solution…you ready? Use your gradual facial tanner on your hands. Yup, that’s all it takes. Personally I have only tried this with the St. Tropez Luxe Facial Oil because that’s what I use, but I would imagine any good quality gradual face tanner would get the job done just the same.
The reason it works is because by nature facial tanner is a little more subtle, it doesn’t cling to dry patches or lines as much and it doesn’t leave any harsh edges…like obviously because who the hell would put it on their face if it did any of those things? I mean c’mon.
I usually just apply a few drops of my facial tanning oil to the backs of my hands when I apply it to my face at night. Don’t forget to remove it from your fingertips and palms though, because then it will get patchy and look crazy. I usually use a baby wipe so I can clean my palms but not wash it off the backs of my hands.
Here is how it came out after the last time I applied it…
No patches, and it blends right into the rest of the tan on my arm. Sa-weeet! Granted I don’t go super dark with my fake tan because I’m super duper milky white by nature and it just looks crazy if I go too dark, but I assure you this is me with a tan (lmao)
So if you struggle with how to fake tan your hands, try using your facial tanner next time. especially if you use the St. Tropez Oil because it really comes out smooth and perfect!
