Everyone always seems to need false eyelash tips…which I guess makes sense because wearing false eyelashes is hard! Do you ever see girls who wear huge lashes all the time and just walk around and rock it like it aint even a thang? How the hell do they do that? I think it basically it comes down to practice, and also knowing a few little tips to help you apply them properly so that you look chic and put together, and not like you just got off the overnight bus from crazytown. Let’s be honest, it’s a fine line. I’m getting better at it though, because I’ve been practicing.
If you have a hard time putting on lashes all together then you might want to read this post first, but if you can already put them on but want them to look more seamless then continue on here. Today let’s focus on hiding the lash band and helping it blend into your natural lash line. If you get good enough at applying them you will be able to rock them without even applying eyeliner to help them blend, but you need a few tips first.
- Always tightline, even if you aren’t going to wear eyeliner. Tightlining itself can be hard to master so if you have a hard time with that then check out my favorite easy method for doing it right HERE. But basically tighlining the eye will help hide the light color of the flesh between your lashes. Even if your skin is a deep tone it will still probably look lighter than the color of the false lashes. Tightlining is a great way to hide that without looking like you’re wearing eyeliner or taking up any lid space.
- Don’t over-curl them. If your lashes are straight you may want to curl them a little because otherwise they will stick out straight and not blend into the falsies, but curling them too much will make it hard to get the band of the lashes close to your natural lash line, creating a gap. You want to get the band as close to the natural lash as possible to make it look seamless. Essentially if you are curling them before hand and you find that you can’t get the band quite close enough to your real lashes then try curling them a tiny bit less. It’s a balancing act so it may take some trial and error.
- Hide a clear/white band or clear/white lash glue with a little bit of black eyeshadow. I have been doing this for ages, and I never even thought about it because it just seemed like second nature. Then I saw Katy from lustreluxe do it in a tutorial and I was like ummmmm why have I never mentioned this before? It’s a super helpful tip. Sometimes you just do things on autopilot I guess. I used a pair of ardell wispies, which I feel like always show the band a little, but this pair has been used a few times so they have some extra glue to cover too…ya know for visual effect and whatnot.
I just use a dense Flat Definer Brush, pack it with some matte black shadow and then tap it gently onto the lash band area to cover any glue or a clear band that’s showing. The trick is to only get it on the lashes and not the lid. Once the black has been placed on the area that need to be covered I also find it helpful to take what product remains on the brush and wiggle the bristles of the brush gently on the base of the lashes. That helps move a small amount of product between the false lashes and the real ones, covering any remaining gaps.
I prefer this to using a liner or a mascara because I find that the powder formula keeps the false lashes fresh for longer where a cream or liquid get’s them a little gunked up.
So if you are looking for a few false eyelash tips to help you hone your craft then I hope these were helpful. Do you have any awesome tricks that help blend in your false eyelashes? Let everyone know in the comments!
