Let’s be honest…scotch tape just is not the best tape for nail art. I find it hard to work with, sometimes it won’t peel off all in one piece, and it can leave behind a sticky residue. It sucks, there I said it.
So I look for alternatives, and in the past I’ve found that for half moon manicures, bandaids really do the trick but for anything that needs a straight line I was still using scotch tape…until now!
Well, not now per say. I’ve been doing this for a few months to make sure it works well in various situations for you guys. But the best tape for nail art is definitely washi tape! (Unless you are trying to make skinny little lines or stripes, but thats what striping tape is for)
Here I’ll take you through a simple manicure with a straight line so you can see how nicely it works.
So much crisper and nicer than scotch tape, and easier to remove too. Nothing makes me angrier than trying to pick little bits of scotch tape off my nail without ruining the manicure on my other fingers, grrrr. That’s not an issue at all with washi tape.
It’s also more pliable than scotch tape so you can sorta push it into the crevices at the side of your nails to make sure it lays flush and you can take it off and reposition it if you don’t like the angle you got. Definitely much better.
I buy it at target but you can also get it on amazon or at craft stores. I like to get colors that suit my taste because I also use it to package things but if you are only using it for nail art then just buy the cheapest ugly print if you want. Ain’t nobody gonna see it!
