For a while there I was so over painting my nails and only did the bare minimum. No fun designs, no experimenting, just base color, topcoat, done. I was dealing with broken nails and lint issues and i seriously just couldn’t be bothered.
This week I finally felt a little inspired to do something slightly more interesting, but to ease myself into it I wanted to keep it really simple, so I went for some geometric nail art.
This fun nail art look is so easy that a baby could probably do it. Yeah there are pretty impressive babies out there but as far as I know they are not great at painting nails, so if they can do it so can you. Ok a baby totally couldn’t do this, have you ever seen a baby paint? It’s a mess.
You can do it though! And you can do it with whatever colors you want, but these are the ones I chose.
Essie Jiggle Hi Jiggle Low | Essie Armed And Ready
I started by painting my nails with “armed and ready” adding a top coat and letting it dry completely. I actually didn’t even do the nail art until the next morning. You can do it sooner than that but I was just feeling super lazy about it. I needed and eight hour nap in between.
Basically all you need to do is place your brush where you want to top of the rectangle to be and pull down slightly. Then move the brush over (you may need to dip in for a little more polish in between) and do the same thing right next to it. once you have the top of the shape the rest is easy.
Just fill in the rest of the shape down to the tip of the nail, almost like you are painting a tiny nail within your actual nail. Nailception.
If you are a real perfectionist you can use tape to get sharp lines, but personally I don’t think its worth the effort. You get the same effect either way and nobody is going to get right up in your fingers and examine them. As long as they are reasonably straight you’re good to go. And if you use the “place the brush and pull down” method you’ll get a pretty damn clean line.
It looks way more impressive than it really is so if you like super easy geometric nail art but are also feeling like you might need to ride the lazy train for a few stops then this might be worth a go!
