Fact: Fall nails are the best nails. I guess that’s more of an opinion actually. But it’s MY opinion and I’m sticking to it! I get very excited when fall rolls around, I love dark moody colors on my lips and on my nails, and I also love knitted hats and scarves so really it’s sorta like my time to be me, ya know? That’s a pretty dramatic way to say it but you get what I mean.
So this year as I was gathering my must have fall nail colors a funny thing happened. They all turned out to be kinda muted and have a cream finish. I didn’t plan it, I must have just been feeling that mood without even really knowing it. Weird.
- OPI Vant To Bite My Neck Is a dark eggplant purple shade. As you may have gathered from the name it’s a little vampy, but not so much that you might feel weird wearing it. I usually find myself buying colors in this type of shade with a more shimmery finish and then not wearing them all that often, but since getting this creme finish version of a dark eggplant purple I have been wearing it quite a bit. The formula is good, not thin and not thick. Two coats gets the job done.
- OPI Skating on Thin Iceland I know what you’re thinking . . .another creme finish dark purple? Yes because it’s an entirely different animal than Vant To Bite My Neck. It’s warmer and not quite as deep. I would call it a plummy purple rather than an eggplant. It looks really good with other fall colors like olive green and burgundy, and is very flattering for a lot of skin tones. It’s definitely an easy one to wear. The formula is slightly on the thicker side for OPI, but not so much that you’ll be waiting for 3 hours for it to dry only to dent it on something, or have a hard time applying it. I can see this one being a go-to this fall. I already wore it like 3 times and it’s only September!
- Essie Fall In Line is a dusty green color. I’m not gonna lie, it’s a weird shade. But weird in a good way. Weird like I can’t stop looking at it to think about whether it’s really green or not. The formula is also pretty average, medium thickness and applies nicely. Two coats is all you need.
- Essie Wicked is an oldie but it’s like the quintessential fall color to me. Deep burgundy creme finish? C’mon that’s fall in a bottle! The formula is a little bit on the thin side but it doesn’t affect the application at all. It’s a cult classic for a reason.
- Essie Power Clutch is a straight up slate grey color. It’s not greige, it’s not grey with a hint of something, it’s just dark grey. And I love it! It’s such a nice change from all of those semi-grey colors that I find myself trying. It’s like a breath of fresh grey air. . .that’s a terrible simile. It’s nice, I like it, ’nuff said. I have no issues with the formula, it applies well. Totally recommend it.
So those are my must have fall nail colors for 2014. I got so excited last week that I wore them all at one time (nope, not kidding lol) Let me know what fall colors you’re excited for!
