You asked, and I tested. Well more like I said “I totally bought these!” and you guys were like “Do a review!” and I was like “K” and just like that my purchase was justified (LOL) In case you missed it and are confused, I mentioned these too faced melted lipsticks a few weeks ago in a lust list post, and bought them before the post even went live. I know I know but in my defense one was really pretty and the other was free with a Sephora VIB Rouge Code. Enough excusing my makeup buying habits, I tested the colors “Melted Berry” and “Melted Peony” so let’s check out how the did. First things first the color is goooooooorgeous. My goodness. So so pretty. The initial application was very nice. It goes on smooth and even , looks really plump and juicy and was easy enough to apply with the attached applicator. Too Faced claims
Precision tip applicator to allow for a clean, effortless application each time (no liner needed!)
…And I would say that’s true, but I’m pretty neurotic about a precise edge on my lipstick so I did touch it up a bit with a brush. You can get a pretty clean application with the tip though, which is surprising because it is a bit round and fuzzy looking. Not long after I applied Melted Berry I took the pup out for his afternoon walk. It was a little windy so my hair blew around a bit. When I came back inside and looked in the mirror I had little lines on my face from where the hair had caught in the lipstick. it was also on my teeth a bit, which is slightly annoying. Perhaps I over-applied a bit and this is my fault? I’m not sure. The fact that it is meant to be a long wearing product lead me to believe it would dry down, but that doesn’t seem to be the case. Either way I cleaned it up and went on with the testing. Two hours and several snacks into wearing it, the color had faded a bit, but was still very much present on the lips. There was a little more messiness under the bottom lip as you can see. But the actual lips themselves looked really good. And this is how it looked until about the SEVEN hour mark when I finally took it off. There was a little bit of gathering of the product on the inner lip but other than that it was still going pretty strong. Other than the slight mess that was made, It wore very well. I am going to test it again and try using much less product and I will come back and edit this if I get a different result. Melted Peony was a step out of my comfort zone color-wise. I normally look pretty dead and washed out with pale pinks on, but something about it called to me . . .and I was lucky enough to have that coupon code for it. But you know what? I actually like the color! It’s very opaque, which helps it look better on me because often lighter, white based colors show my lip color through them and that’s part of what makes them look bad. It’s also bright but still soft which is more flattering than most pale pink shades.
Like the Melted Berry shade it applied easily with the applicator, but since the lighter color is more forgiving I didn’t even bother to touch it up with a brush. Thats a pretty clean application for a round fuzzy brush tip thing. I’m impressed with it. This shade also didn’t seem to have the messiness issues that the berry color did, and I feel like I used the same amount of product. That could also be because it’s a lighter color, or maybe my hair was more under control that day . . .who knows. After two hours and coffees and snacks it still looked really good! I was expecting this color to fade more quickly than the darker color but it did surprisingly well. There was a little bit of product gathering toward the center of the lips as you can see but nothing a quick dab with a tissue won’t fix.
Much like it’s berry brethren it stayed pretty much exactly like this for quite a while, although at around five and a half hours it was pretty much gone. I think the darker one hung on a bit longer because it has more of a staining effect. That’s still a very good performance though, especially for a pale color. I’m not complaining at all.
My overall impression of the Too Faced Melted Lipstick? It’s not perfect but I love love love the colors and the wear time is pretty good so I will definitely get a lot of use out of them! Have you tried them? What did you think?

Interesting… good to know.
Did you do a review on the NYX matte lip creams?
I saw one in your “under 10” post, but I don’t remember seeing your review.
A review similar to this one for those would be cool 🙂 Please?
Hey Vanessa! I haven’t done a proper review of the soft matte lip creams, but I may do one in the near future! 🙂
