It’s not often that I’m super impressed by a skincare item, which is why you may notice that I don’t feature them all that often. I do like to make sure that I am always doing everything I can for my skin though, so I try to include all of the important things in my routine even though I don’t always notice an immediate impact. I figure when I’m fifty and I still look 25 I’ll be glad I did it.
So a few weeks back I was in the market for some new serum, and I had heard talk of a relatively affordable new oil based serum from the body shop. It wasn’t on shelves in the U.S. yet but I was determined to get my hands on some, and I did! They didn’t send it to me or anything, I bought it myself. I’m just crafty like that.
The great thing about getting it a little ahead of time is now that it IS available in the U.S. I have already been using it enough to actual speak about it. I knew I liked it after the first night that I used it, but with skincare I want to give it a little time and make sure it doesn’t cause any weird reactions before I determine that something is awesome and tell the world about it.
I put this on at night after I cleanse my face, sometimes on it’s own and sometimes layered under another moisturizer depending on what I think my skin needs. Either way, when I wake up I feel that my skin is noticeable soft and plump. I even thought at first that it may be some sort of placebo effect. I determined that it was not because the other day I accidentally spilled some, and rubbed what had spilled onto my neck so as not to waste it. I hate wasting anything. The next day I kept noticing that my neck skin (there must be a more graceful way to say that but I can’t think of one) felt really amazing to the touch. I kept touching it by accident and thinking “Ooo, Baby! I am smooth today!” because I had pretty much forgotten about putting it there. Then I remembered and I knew this was really good stuff.
I also recommended that my mom try mine when I was staying by her this weekend, and she loved it as well! She said it plumped up her fine lines, so much so that she went out and bought her own. So this might be a nice serum for women with slightly more mature skin also.
We all know nothing is perfect, but my complaints with this product are pretty minor. I don’t really love the packaging. The bottle is glass, which is not ideal for traveling, but I assume they chose glass because it is the best way to store the ingredients and keep their integrity so I’m not going to whine about that. The glass dropper however is not the most convenient in my opinion, I would much prefer some sort of pump. It seems unnecessarily messy.
The only other minor complaint is that it is scented. Personally I’m not bothered by scented skincare products, but many people feel like it irritates their skin or they are just sensitive to having a fragrance on their face, so I always like to make note of it when there is a scent involved. I found the scent to be pleasant enough though, kinda powdery and light so if you don’t mind that sort of thing it shouldn’t be an issue.
Overall I LOVE this product. I will definitely be making it a long term part of my skincare routine.
