I’ve been online window shopping again. AKA the poor man’s retail therapy. Do you ever do that? Like go online “shopping” at your favorite stores and just put items into your cart even though you know damn well you aren’t buying them right now? It’s super dumb, but I swear it works. It’s totally therapeutic, and more bank account friendly than real shopping. Also, if you slowly take things out that may have been impulse “buys” you get a better picture of what you really want. It’s like curating your own closet. I highly recommend this process.
Anywho, these are the things I have had my eye on lately. Mentally I am already transitioning to spring, because make-believe spring is better than the real life 10 inches of snow we got again this week. My choices wound up being color coordinated too, so either I am going to have a sea-foam and orange wardrobe this spring and summer, or I’m bringing back the early 90s pastel southwest trend. Time will tell.
- Dior Créme Abricot Fortifying Cream For Nails - Normally I would never splurge on such an expensive version of something simple. But around Christmas when Sephora did their VIB Twenty Dollar gift thing, I used the twenty bucks toward the Dior Créme De Rose Lip Balm. Because if you’re crafty with coupons, you can be fancy on a budget. Fact. Well that backfired because it’s so beautiful, and luxurious, and the packaging is simple, sturdy and takes me back to another era. So naturally now I must have the Nail Cream (same packaging) so they can sit together in my purse like dainty little luxury skincare sisters. Also, it has some of the most consistently good reviews I’ve ever seen. C’monnnn coupons, momma needs some fancy nail cream!
- Kat Von D EverLasting Love Liquid Lipstick in “A-go-go” - Liquid Lipsticks that dry down and last all day are seriously in my top 5 favorite things on the world. Currently the list is - my man, my dog, a tie between family and food, liquid lipstick, laser tag. So I’ve been on a hunt for a truly red-orange color of this beautiful type of formula for a while, and I finally swatched this perfect specimen at Sephora the other day. I didn’t buy it because I was splurging on some other stuff and I was trying to have some self control. Now I can’t stop thinking about it though, so you know next time I’m there or I place an online order it’s happening.
- Sephora Formula X Nail Polish in “High Frequency” - I’ve spoken before about how much I like the Formula X Nail Polishes, so obviously I dig the formula. But this color is calling to me for some reason. It has just the right amount of dusty, mutedness (which is not a word according to spellcheck) to the teal. A nice transition into spring colors methinks (apparently that IS a word). Long story short, this color is pleasing to my eyes.
- Philosphy “Time in a Bottle” - I got a sample of this lovely serum a while ago, and damn if it doesn’t make your skin feel nice. I really felt like it was nurturing my skin, and I also looked nice and glowy while using it. Obviously I don’t know the long term effects because I only had a travel size-ish container of it. But that’s the case with most anti-aging skin care, I won’t know if I did anything for a while because I’m not old yet. Unfortunately this sh*t is a little pricey. So I tried to be frugal and I tried the Trader Joe’s facial serum, and I don’t like it one bit. I’m pretty sure it gave me a few pimples too. First thing from TJ’s beauty I’ve been disappointed by actually. But hey, we can’t all be winners I guess. So Time in a Bottle is sitting patiently in my shopping cart until I have some money to spare, or at least until I have a bad day and say “I need to feel beautiful damn it!” and buy it anyway.
- Jeffrey Campbell “Montana” Ankle Boots - If you’re wondering why I would need yet another simple pair of boots, you are probably a straight man who has gotten lost on your way to another part of the internet. These boots are so beautiful! I’ve been looking for a pair of ankle boots that come up a little higher on the ankle, because they elongate the legs, and although I’m pretty tall I still want to stretch the stems out as much as possible. Not to mention I think the higher ankle boot just looks very polished and chic. The seaming at the toe and the cut out from the back of the heel (A Jeffrey Campbell feature that I always love) makes them just interesting enough to be special, while still remaining a classic to add to the collection.
And that’s what is sitting in my online shopping carts at the moment. Maybe we should start taking bets on which one I actually wind up buying! But no money involved though, just bragging rights. We need that money for the stuff sitting in our online carts, duh.
