Sometimes when I’m out at a store or if I’m traveling I wind up grabbing some odd beauty item just out of necessity. Mostly they suck but every now and again I wind up liking them a lot. Other times I just decide to take a chance because I like the looks of something, and it ends up being really great too. So I figure every now and again I’ll make a post about what little hidden beauty gems I’ve found in my travels. It can’t hurt to know what good things you can pick up in unexpected places right?
Trader Joe’s Makeup Remover Wipes: I picked these up when I was grocery shopping, because I was leaving to go home for the holidays and I knew I was pressed for time. I like to take makeup wipes when I travel because coconut oil in someones guest bathroom is just a lot to deal with. Ever had coconut oil spill in your bag and then harden all over all of your things? I have, and I don’t recommend it! To my surprise, these are actually pretty good. I usually hate makeup wipes because they take a long time to take of my makeup, and then I get very dry and irritated. These do take a long time to take it off, but they don’t dry out my skin or irritate my eyes, so I can deal with them taking a little longer to get the job done. I won’t use these every day, but I will keep them in my travel bag for sure!
Urban Outfitters Nail Polishes: I’m a little ashamed of how I wound up liking these, but I’m gonna tell you anyway because screw it. I got these because I had $40 worth of stuff in my online cart and I didn’t want to pay the $5 for shipping. ( You get free shipping over $50 from Urban) But I got two of these and they’re two for eight dollars, so make sense of that. I guess I just like seeing an item for my money. Does anyone else do that, or am I just a total tool? But either way, for that price, these are really good! The white color is called Virgin and the Pink opalescent top coat is called Oyster. Virgin is shockingly well formulated for a white. It doesn’t streak and its opaque in two coats. And Oyster is really fun to layer over other colors. I’m thoroughly impressed! And they always have a ton of fun new colors, so thumbs up from me.
J.R. Watkins Body Oil Mist: Target has magic powers that pull me into it’s beauty section even when I don’t want anything. Sometimes I escape, and other times I remember that I’m out of something and I wind up buying something to replace it. I get a little dry in the winter, but I’m also lazy so I tend to skip putting on my usual moisturizer. I had been using some various continuous spray lotions for my lazy days, and they’re really good but they weren’t providing enough moisture for my dry ass winter legs. So I grabbed the J.R. Watkins Body Oil Mist, since I loved their hand lotion so much, and I was not disappointed. I think maybe this entire line is a hidden gem . . .or does everyone know it’s awesome and I’m just out of the loop? Both are entirely possible. Either way, this is easy to apply which appeals to the lazy oaf inside me, and it gives a good amount of moisture, and smells really great. Win, win, win. (If you read that last sentence in the voice of Michael Scott, you’re my best friend now. No you don’t have a choice.)
Closing out posts is always weird and awkward and I don’t have a good way to do it today soooo . . . .uhhh BYE!
