Maybe I’m a little (or a lot) tardy to the party here, but I felt inspired to talk about this.
For a long time I have been very loyal to my Tart Eyelash Curler. I keep it in my kit because I like that it has flat paddles instead of loops for your fingers, which I find more comfortable. . .maybe that’s just me and my big man hands, but whatever it is what it is.
Just out of habit, I have been loyally using my Tarte curlers for my personal makeup for a long time as well, I just like to use tools that feel familiar in my hands.
However, with daily use I guess the wear and tear is a bit much, and I have broken two pair of them already. A few weeks ago when my most recent pair broke I had had enough of repurchasing them, so I decided I was going to purchase the famous Shu Uemura Eyelash curlers and see if they were worth all the hype.
As most of you probably know, they are basically everyone and their momma’s holy grail eyelash curler, but I was reluctant for two reasons…
First of all, I was thinking they look like every other eyelash curler on Earth. How different could they be?
Second of all, I usually like curlers that have a spring to increase the tension and these don’t have one.
Well, let me tell you these ARE different and they don’t need a spring. I don’t know what subtle miracles of engineering the fine folks at Shu Uemura have pulled off, but wow.
These babies manage to get all of my very wonky, super straight, stubborn lashes all perfectly into the curler and curl them beautifully with three squeezes. (While walking the curlers up the lash) They have also worked miraculously on every other person I have used as a guinea pig. I think they are made by wizards.
The verdict: they have replaced my personal eyelash curlers as well as the ones in my kit. I’m converted. Don’t get me wrong, the Tarte ones are good and I will keep them around as backup, but Shu has got the lock down on eyelash curlers.
I’m not one to fall in love with a product just because it’s hyped up, but this time around, believe the hype, folks.
