Five Makeup Tips to Help You Always Look Put Together!

As I am getting older, I am seeing a pattern. As my friends and family mature the more they want to look more put together, and polished. Unfortunately the amount that they want to look put together is inversely proportionate to the amount of time they actually have to accomplish it!

So many of the ladies in my life are either going to college and holding down a job, or are new mommies who also have jobs, and it seems like a frustrating cycle of wanting to put your look together and represent yourself a certain way, and not having the time to do ANYTHING.

So I sat down and came up with five little makeup things you can do the help yourself look like you put more time into your look than you actually did.

Whether you have time for one, or time for all five at the very least it will help a little, and you can choose for yourself which steps are most important for you to look and feel good!

As such, these things are not REALLY in any particular order, just the order that makes sense to me.

#1- BB Cream and/or Tinted Moisturizers are Your Friends!

You may not have time to put on a full face of foundation every day, but odds are you smear on some type of moisturizer or at the very least sunblock before leaving the house. A simple way to pull it together? Switch that out for a tinted moisturizer or BB cream!

They are sheer enough that you can apply them with your fingers so no fussing with brushes and sponges, and they will just even out your skin tone and make you look naturally flawless. PLUS you get the benefit of sun protection and added moisture, which you are (or if not then you REALLY should be) doing already.

So it’s like making your skin look good NOW and also keeping it looking good down the line…I think you have 30 seconds to do that 😉

#2- Curl Your Lashes…You won’t regret it

Even with nothing else on your face, curling your eyelashes makes ALL THE DIFFERENCE. They make you look more awake, younger and more polished. I meet so many girls who are terrified of lash curlers…and I totally get that they look like a medieval torture device, I cant even argue against that, but guess what…THEY DON’T HURT. Sure they can pinch if you are hasty with them, but even then its just a little pinch, you’ll live I promise.

These are my eyeballs with mascara and ZERO other makeup on. The left side is curled and the right side is drooping (it WAS curled but I used non waterproof mascara and it drooped, which I will get to in a moment) Not only do my lashes look longer on the curly side, but my whole eye looks more open.

If you do nothing else to your face, give this a try. I really think you’ll see the merits of it. Unless you are one of those ladies who has naturally perfectly curled lashes in which case I say PPFFFFFFFFFT. I’m sorry, I’m just jealous.

#3- Mascara Mascara Mascara, and Did I Mention Mascara?

Adding some black mascara can transform your whole face. There’s not much else to say about it, it helps ALOT. You can read a whole post about how to get your lashes to stay curled with mascara HERE.

#4- If Your Face is a Beautiful Picture, Your EYEBROWS are the Frame.

Ok, thats a cheesy way to put it, but it’s sorta true. The shape and condition of your eyebrows can change your whole face. There are two ways to approach this. You can simply groom them well and make sure they are plucked in a good shape or you can enhance them daily. This can be as simple as setting them with a bit of colored brow gel, or you can fill them in. You can even just decide to fill them in for special occasions. Either way, just making them neater will help your whole look.

#5- When in Doubt, RED LIPSTICK

A red lip always looks put together, and the great thing about a red lip is you can wear it with just mascara and you look like you made a ton of effort. A red lip looks deliberate. It looks classic. It is always in fashion. It is also a chameleon; it can be anything from punk rock to Parisian chic. I can go on all day about the beauty of a red lip. The fact is it is the panacea of looking put together. Keep a red lip color that works for you in your purse, and you can slap it on in the car mirror and go from day to night in an instant. These days there are easy options that wear well and are quick to apply also, so no need to worry about fussing with difficult products.

Like I said earlier, if you do one of these things, three of these things, or all five of these things you will feel more polished. Even all five should take you under ten minutes to do.
