Guys I have a confession to make…I hate spring. OK not true, I like spring weather. I like dining outdoors. I like not wearing a ski mask to walk the dog. I just don’t like spring colors usually. Except for some reason this year the spring nail trends are actually something I can get down with, which is especially surprising because the pantone colors of the year look baby shower themed, but apparently that’s not the way things are actually trending.
I usually just pick a bunch of fun colors that I see as spring-acceptable for my spring nail picks, but this year since I’m actually digging the spring nail trends for once I did my research on whats trending and chose a bunch of colors that I think fit the bill very nicely
- ESSIE - OFF TROPIC // Normally when I see a dark green like this I don’t think spring, but when you put it in the context of tropical green leaves the way the name suggests it totally starts to make sense! It has a bit of a blue undertone to the green too which makes it a little more summery than say a true pine-tree green color.
- ESSIE -BUTLER PLEASE // An oldie but a goodie. Bright cobalts are pretty popular for this spring and this shade is like the classic bright cobalt nail color. Also, if you notice this post is a little essie-heavy that’s because I have been really digging their formula lately. I never thought it was anything special really but lately I notice that it wears much longer than a lot of other brands.
- SALLY HANSEN - TERRA COPPA // Speaking of formula, these are the first ones I’ve tried from the Sally Hansen Miracle Gel line and do far I am really digging it! It’s very smooth and wears well. Good color payoff too. So metallics are one of the hot spring nail trends and I chose this shade because it’s a drugstore metallic shade that actually has a ton of interest and nuance. It’s a metallic copper obviously but the combination of the different shimmer shades within it really give it some depth. I did need to do three coats of this color to make it completely opaque but it still dried fast and didn’t get all gooey-gross-mcnastytown so that doesn’t really bother me much.
- ESSIE - POOL SIDE SERVICE // I’m wearing this color on my fingers right now actually, and I feel like it’s the perfect answer to spring color, for people who don’t like spring colors. Does that make sense? I’m I the only one out there with this aversion to spring colors? Am I a grinch? Is there something wrong with me? Someone tell me they feel this way too!
- SALLY HANSEN - GET MOD // There’s not a ton to say about this color because quite frankly it’s white…literally it’s just plain. It’s not perfectly white, but nothing is is perfect in this life. Learn that now kiddo #lifelessonswithnicole. Anyway, there is something to be said for the fact that it’s white that doesn’t go on streaky! whites and creams are usually streak city, but this goes on smooth and unlike it’s metallic counterpart up there it does it in just two coats.
You know what else I am looking forward to about spring? Fake tanning. I was too lazy to do it all winter and now my body is ready. Consequently that will make all these colors look a lot better too, so I guess I better get on that ????
