I’ve been dealing with itchy winter skin for quite some time now, but in the last few years it has gotten worse because when it get’s too dry it also triggers my eczema. Which essentially makes it so itchy that I want to scream. I literally lose sleep from being itchy. My husband has had to stop me from scratching my legs with a hair brush. I know scratching it isn’t good, but that sh*t itches from deep in my soul. man. I can’t help it! It gets bad.
There are things that help with the itchiness though. Last year I wrote about my two favorite winter skin saviors (one of which is part if this post too) and long before that I also wrote about filtering my shower water. I still swear by both of those, but I have been using a specific combination this year along with them and it has completely stopped my itching for about a month now. That’s the longest I think it’s ever gone away completely during the winter, so it’s definitely noteworthy.
The first product is something new that I started using after trying my mom’s. It was in the shower when I stayed at her house, and I said oo lush stuff, don’t mind if I do. I knew it was good because I usually get eczema from the water in Queens. It has a lot of chlorine, so usually if Im there for a week or so I go home itchy and scaly. But when I was using this I was fine…
Ro’s Argan Body Conditioner from Lush. You use it literally like you would use hair conditioner. You put it on clean, wet skin in the shower, and then wash it off and it leaves your skin conditioned and soft. It doesn’t seem like it would do much when you first apply it, but after you rinse you can feel that it left behind some oils on your skin.
So obviously when I got back home I bought one, and I started using it with my old winter-skin favorite.
Lush Dream Cream! I know I’ve mentioned this before but it really is the most soothing cream I’ve ever used. It honestly heals up my dry skin or eczema faster than anything else I’ve ever tried. This post is NOT sponsored by Lush by the way, it’s just a coincidence that both products are from there.
With this combination during and after every shower I haven’t had any itchiness or eczema at all since the weather got cold. So if you suffer from dry itchy winter skin, or even just eczema on it’s own, I feel your pain. Hopefully this helps you out a little if that’s the case. And seriously though, don’t scratch it with a hair brush, that was not a proud moment for me ?
