Do you ever look at photos of girls on Instagram with really nice makeup and get eyelid envy? I do alllll the time. Some girls just have the BEST lids and makeup looks SO good on them and I’m definitely super jealous. I don’t have TINY lid space or anything, but I definitely don’t have prominent or defined lids either.
Sometimes it’s the tiny little tips that make a big difference, and this tiny tip makes a subtle but very powerful impact. I do this whenever I do makeup for my mom and sister (they both have very small lids) and they always remark on what a big difference they see. So if you have medium or small lids and you want them to look deeper, larger and more prominent then try this quick little trick to make eyelids look bigger.
STEP ONE:
Ok so start off your makeup as usual and make sure that you are using a crease color to contour the lid. This little trick wont work well if you are just doing a quick wash of color over the mobile lid, you need the crease color.
STEP TWO:
On a small blending brush take your crease color and blend it from the crease right into the inside of your eye socket and almost into the side of your nose
This will make the socket appear much deeper and more defined, creating the illusion of more space.
See what a huge difference that makes? Obviously that is very harsh an unblended which brings us to the next step.
STEP THREE:
Blend out the contour. Just like anywhere else on your face, you want to blend your contour out so it’s not harsh and obvious.
STEP FOUR:
Add a bit of highlight color to the inner corner of the eye to make sure that the contour isn’t making your eyes look dark or sunken. No point in having defined lids if they make you look sick or something right?
STEP FIVE:
Finish your makeup as usual. Do your thang, express yoself etc. etc.
Once it’s blended you can’t even really tell it’s there, but it definitely makes the lid look larger and more defined. I took this lovely car selfie to show you how it looks blended out, because car lighting is the best, but you can see if you look closely where I added the contour near the nose line. Man makeup is so fun.
So give this little trick a try to make your eyelids look bigger, if that’s what you so desire. And if that’s not what you desire, then it’s pretty impressive that you read this far. Thanks for hanging in there. 😉
