I’m not over here trying to brag or anything, but my picks for holiday nail polish are SO on point this year. I’m very pleased with them, and I want to wear them all at the same time. But not like one on each finger, I mean I want to grow five sets of hands so I can wear them all as a complete manicure simultaneously, THAT’S how much I like them. I mean look at them up there, being all festive and awesome.
Zoya ‘Sansa‘ - This is a special and rare little gem. It’s a dark purple base with a very heavy amount of fine gold glitter through it. The result is a dark nail with a subtle but noticeable gold sparkle. it’s really hard to capture exactly how cool it is in a photo because you sorta miss out on the magic of the light dancing on it, so I made a little gif to show you what I mean
Isn’t it awesome? It’s also very festive without being a classic take on the “christmas theme” so it’s a fun way to shake things up for the holidays. I also find the formula to be very easy to work with, which is a really pleasant surprise because as much as I love Zoya’s colors I find their formula to be a little too thick for my taste most of the time.
Sally Hansen ‘Golden Rule’ - As far as drugstore brand nail polishes go Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure formula is one of my favorites. This glittery golden goodness is no exception. Its very easy to apply for a glitter, and in three coats (which is what I applied above) its a completely opaque color. It reminds me a bit of sequins, which definitely screams festive holidays, but the fact that it’s sort of an antique silver-gold rather than a full on yellow gold makes it much more modern and chic in my humble opinion.
Sephora Formula X ‘Mr. Positivity’ - The Formula X polishes from Sephora are so awesome. They have so many great colors and they are such a great formula. This particular color is a very rich, glittery teal-green, which reminds me a lot of a spruce tree…so obviously perfect for the holidays! The only issue I take with this color is that it’s sort of a jelly finish, which means that it isn’t opaque on it’s own. As you can see in the pictures above it’s still somewhat translucent. So I recommend layering it over a nice dark teal green base. For example, here I did one coat of Mr Positivity over one coat of OPI Ski Teal We Drop, and it came out perfect
Isn’t that like THE perfect holiday green? I feel festive just looking at it!
Essie ‘Jiggle Hi Jiggle Low’ - I’m not sure if this is gold or silver, it sorta rides the line between the two. What I DO know is that it’s a really glamorous and modern metallic that will look really great with any holiday outfit. It’s opaque in two coats and because it’s sort of on the neutral side for a gold shade it should flatter most peoples skin tones.
OPI ‘Malaga Wine’ - If you’re going for a more subdued and classic look for this holiday season, then this might be right up your street. Malaga wine is a classic OPI burgundy shade with a cream finish. It’s might be simple, but it’s a classic for a reason. It’s a gorgeous shade and you will probably find yourself wearing it for a lot more than just holiday parties.
And there ya have it, those are my holiday nail polish picks for this year. I Hope you like them as much as I do . . .and hopefully I will get a chance to wear them all to some event or another, because the whole growing five pairs of hands thing doesn’t look promising. 😉
