Dark polish is my jam. I dabble with other things, but I know where my bread is buttered. The thing is, it’s kind of a pain in the rump to take off. It gets all over your cuticles and your fingers. There’s like a leftover residue of color on the nail. Totes annoying.
Good news is, I have a system! I’m a nerd, I know. But I use it to help people so don’t make fun of me! It’s really simple and I feel weird even explaining it, but it took me a while to get it down, so why not give everyone else a cheat sheet? This is how you remove dark nail polish without making a ridiculous mess all over yourself . . .
Ok first of all, use a cotton pad. I too am guilty of using paper towels or tissues to take of my nail polish in a pinch, sh*t happens. But Using a cotton pad makes a world of difference when you’re removing a dark color, because it’s just a lot neater. Second of all, soak that baby with remover. Just a dab will NOT do ya, get it saturated.
Ok please excuse my stained nails, I know they look grody. Like I said, I wear a lot of dark polish 🙁
Ok so you have your saturated cotton pad, now place it on the nail and hold it still for 30 seconds to a minute. The amount of time you need depends on how many coats of polish the remover needs to soak through so experiment a little and see what works.
After you let it sit you can begin to rub the polish off, BUT only rub longways along the length of you nail, not back and forth! Doing it this way keep 99% of that pesky dissolved polish off your cuticles.
Yeah I referenced a thirteen year old OutKast song, what of it?
Look how nice that came out! No mess at all. Try it next time you wear a dark polish, which should be immediately because they look awesome.
