Let’s just start this off with a disclaimer. I am writing this post because this is the way I personally feel comfortable wearing festive makeup. If you like to do things a different way then that’s completely ok with me and I actually encourage you to do it! Be you baby, always and in all ways. But personally when I google “Fourth of July Makeup” for inspiration and I see things like red white and blue flag eyes, star spangled lips, and star stickers, I’m not inspired. Go ahead and look at the google results for that and come back. There are a few more subtle things but over all it’s just not for me. It doesn’t feel adult (and regardless of whether you are an actual adult you may feel the same. I felt like I was 30 when I was 10) and it leave’s me a bit discouraged because I’m like ok…guess I’ll just be a grinch then.
I know I can’t be alone in this, especially since a friend who is a dude and doesn’t even wear makeup brought it up to me. If he notices this discrepancy in makeup inspiration then it must be a big gap. The good new is you can wear fourth of July makeup, still fit your personal style and not have to be a grinch! I made a list of tips that are helpful for me, and I gathered a few makeup looks that I think fit the bill for some visual inspiration.
The best part is you can really apply these tips to any holiday look.
You can take these tips separately or combine them up…. or tell me to shove it, paint your face like a flag and roll yourself in star shaped glitter. Get it girl.
Here are some looks I think make sense with these tips though, in case you’re on the hunt for some Fourth of July makeup visual inspo. They are all looks I’ve featured on my Instagram so if you dig them don’t forget to follow me there because I post makeup photos every day ::coughshamelesscrosspromotioncough::
