This has nothing to do with this DIY scalp treatment, but I’ve had the Charles in Charge theme song in my head for about 4 days now. GET OUT YOU CURSED THEME SONG. I’m going to lose it.
Anyway, these past few weeks my husband and I have both been dealing with dry scalps. That sounds gross now that I wrote it but hey, it’s reality. I don’t know what was causing it, maybe the weather, maybe the water? It’s probably one of those things because we don’t use any of the same hair products. Super strange.
Either way scalp health is important for the overall health of your hair, so even if you think you’re like “so cool” because you don’t have a gross dry scalp at the moment, maybe you should stop being so smug and try it anyway! Ya little jerk. Sorry I’m just bitter because my scalp was gross. But it’s ok I fixed it!
I had heard that you can use coconut oil as a scalp treatment, but you know I’m not one to keep things quite that simple. Honey is a great, natural humectant and raw honey has tons of nutrients that are good for the hair and skin. So I came up with a concoction of coconut oil and raw honey and wrapped it all up in plastic so you look like a freak and guess what…works like a dream! I even made my poor husband test it out and sit around with plastic wrap on his head. He was glad he did it because his scalp felt so much better, but he’s still a really good sport because wow you look like a real dork sitting around with your head wrapped up like this.
Of course, I would never ask you to do something so silly looking without showing you how silly I look myself. So here I am looking super chic and totes amazing in my scalp treatment head wrap…
Drink that in.
I leave it on for about 30 minutes, and then shampoo it out thoroughly, and by thoroughly I mean I shampoo it at least two full times because I want a nice conditioned scalp but I also don’t want to wash my hair again in 12 hours.
After doing this DIY scalp treatment my hair feels soft and full and fluffy (as long as I wash the bejesus out of it) and any dry itchiness is completely soothed and gone. If you try it, let me know how it goes and PLEASE feel free to take pictures and snap them to me (username: msquinnface) I swear I won’t take screenshots.
