So for many many summers I have had a problem with my thighs…No I’m not referring to the fact that they often rips through the seams of my leggings and yoga pants like the angry hulk. I get razor burn. To make matters worse it seems to get worse in the warm weather, so when it’s time to whip out the old Daisy Dukes for the summer, I have a nice rashy looking inner thigh area to compliment the look. Not cute.
So I’ve been on the search for a razor burn treatment for quite some time, and I finally found something the works for the inner thigh and bikini area. But first I want to give you a couple of tips that help mitigate razor burn and keep the whole leg area nice and smooth too.
- Use a shower filter. I wrote a whole post on how using a shower filter has helped my skin, and if you live in city that puts chlorine in the water then it could be a game changer for your legs too. If I don’t replace my filter in a timely fashion I notice my legs get more irritated after shaving right away and they also get dry and itchy as well.
- Try using a soothing moisturizer and use it after every shave. For me things with oat milk or oat derived ingredients seem to work really well for soothing the skin. For a drugstore option I usually reach for Aveeno Daily Moisture Lotion, but for the last year or so my husband and I have both been in LOVE with Lush’s Dream Cream. It’s extremely soothing.
Now on to the main event. TendSkin.
Basically this is an after shave treatment that contains salicylic acid (also known as the main ingredient in Aspirin for a little fun fact there) and it is the BOMB for getting rid of razor burn and bumps and redness and any other ugly side effects of hair removal. I usually wait until I’m dry after shaving and then swipe a little on the affected areas with a cotton pad. It takes ten extra seconds and it makes a world of difference.
I sat and contemplated how to do a before and after for you guys, but I ran into two issues. First of all I did not want to shave and then not use this and let myself have a razor burn, and second of all…I felt real weird putting a close up of my crotch on the blog. I mean yeah it was for demonstration purposes but still. Even I have my limits.
I promise though, lack of crotch shots aside, it really works well. The only down side that I need to warn you of is that if you do it soon after shaving it does sting a bit. It’s ok though, a little pain is good for you, it will make you tougher. At least thats what my grandma said. Seriously though, it’s not that bad but I just wanted to warn you in case you try it and think it’s not normal.
If you’ve been searching high and low for a razor bump treatment that actually works give this a shot, and try those two little tips I mentioned. My legs have never been less bumpy! 😉
