Thanksgiving is over, so I can finally post about Christmas stuff without feeling like a weirdo! Woohoo! Let’s not waste any time, I want to talk about holiday nail colors. I have some fun new ones this year, and some old favorites and I’m equally excited about every single one of them.
So Beautiful I Could Cry
Let’s take a look at them all individually.
Sally Hansen – Twinkle Toes-ty: I picked this up at target because it reminded me of Deborah Lippmann “Glitter and be Gay” Which I LOVE, but I can;t seem to find it in me to spend 19 bucks on a glitter polish. The Sally Hansen one is WAY cheaper, but for some reason it’s hard to find online for a decent price. I linked to one on amazon, but I recommend just going into your local target and looking for it on the display, I think it’s around 6 bucks in store.
OPI- My Favorite Ornament: I saw this in Ulta and I was obsessed instantly! It really does look like that frosty, pale gold glitter that is on a lot of ornaments. And for a sandy finish it glitters like crazy! Even my boyfriend was like “Whoaaa! Cool nails!” You know it’s good when a guy notices it without being prompted. The swatch is pretty, but in person it’s even better somehow. It really dances in the light. It also stays on for a really long time without looking like a chipped up mess, which I dig, big time.
OPI- Ski Teal We Drop: This one is from last year I believe, and I forgot I had it until recently. It’s such a rich interesting green/teal, which works really well for me because I’m not into the traditional kelly-green with red for the holidays. It reminds me of a blue spruce, which for normal people who don’t have a walking knowledge of tree species is a type of “christmas” tree with a blueish tinge to the needles. In other words that was my dorky way of saying, it’s totally still a christmas color.
OPI- Stay The Night: This one is another sandy finish with glitter. I like having this in the repertoire of holiday nail colors (which I will obviously be rotation through from now until the end of December. Obviously) because it’s is holiday-ish but still sort of dark and vampy, which is how I like my nails. This may lead you to think I’m dark a and mysterious person, but don’t be fooled. I’m goofy and not at all mysterious.
OPI- Ski Slope Sweetie: I am not one to wear whites, generally. But giiiiiirl this one is like something a classy older lady would wear if she still looked really young and hip for her age. I’ll give you a minute to let you picture her in your mind . . . .See? She’s totally wearing this nail polish. This also turns into a beautiful shimmering gold if you layer it over a dark color. Amazing.
Essie- Sable Collar: This toned down, plummy mauve is perfect for staying in the holiday theme, without being obvious. It has a grayness to the plum color that makes it really neutral, but the tiny bits of red shimmer make it more special. It’s really hard to see how interesting it is in the swatch. I tried like 80 different lighting sources to get it to show but it didn’t work. I’m still working on the photography end of things around here, I’ll get there eventually. Anyway, this might be a great choice if you are a little more reserved with your nail choices, or if you work in a really conservative office or something.
China Glaze – Cranberry Splash: Oh, Have I posted about this color 50 times before? Yup I guess I have. But it’s a great color. It’s classic, but interesting and festive and glam all at once. It’s a bottle of melted christmas party, and there is no other way to describe it.
