As you may or may not know, the Pantone “Color of the Year” for 2013 is Emerald! What does that mean for you? Basically that green is going to be super trendy this year. Personally, I already had a thing for green nail polish, so I gathered up the four colors I use most often to show them to you all!
Left to right:
Butter London- Wallis Zoya-Envy OPI-Jade is the New Black Sally Hansen- Jumpin’ Jade
Wallis, Envy, JITNB, Jumpin’ Jade
Butter London- Wallis: This color is really a sheer green base with an antique gold shimmer. But once it is built up it makes a rich olive/khaki green that flashes gold in the light. Is it emerald? Nope, not even close! But it’s green and I like it anyway! And Butter London makes excellent quality “3 Free” polish. It is just the right thickness and very well pigmented which translates to: it dries quickly and wears very well.
Zoya- Envy: This polish is such a deep dark version of emerald green that it almost looks black in dim lighting, but thats what I love about it. You can wear green polish, and it still comes across very chic and demure! It also won’t clash with many things, which is one hang-up I have with brighter nail colors. I like this one a lot too. It applies evenly, and has average wear time, Zoya products are very good quality and also “3 Free” for those who are concerned about that.
OPI- Jade is the New Black: This color is a creamy milky green…like if emeralds and cream was a flavor, this is what it would look like…does that make ANY sense? Hahahaha This is one of the colors I used in my blackened top coat post, and the darkened version of it that I made there is really sweet too. As for quality, EXCELLENT. And after just looking it up, did you know OPI was 3 Free too? Apparently they are, I just learned something!
Sally Hansen – Jumpin’ Jade: This one is a deep emerald with a shimmer finish. It has a tinge of blue which adds to the depth of the color and for a drugstore brand…it’s pretty nuanced and sophisticated don’t you think? Much like Zoya-Envy this one is dark enough that it brings a bit more sophistication to the green nail, and will pair easily with more outfits and looks. The one downside is that it is part of the “Insta-Dry” line of polishes, and I find that they peel off after a few days. Personally I get bored and change my polish every 3-4 days anyway so…whatever, right? But if you usually keep your polish on for a full week, keep in mind this is a chipper.
